` JAMES POTTER:  the history between the two potter brothers was well known to anyone that attended school with them. james had been the brother that had pestered his brother over the idea that he would be sorted into slytherin. he teased him the whole summer leading up to his first year over the possibility. it wasn't something that he hadn't done before, teasing his brother was a daily thing when they were younger. as they grew up, they got along better than they did as younger boys. if some daily prophet writer began to bother albus, james would have taken the spotlight from his brother. while he did it for the attention, he also did it because he knew albus didn't enjoy the spotlight as much as him. when they had lost their parents, james had grown more protective of albus and lily than he had been before. sometimes, he would have argued with his brother over doing something like their father and mother had done. despite that, james had considered their relationship to be better than when they were kids. of course, he still teased his brother though not nearly as bad as he did when they were younger. due to albus being a former auror in training, it was rare for him to appear in diagon alley or anything beyond the leaky cauldron. james had asked, if he would meet him at the leaky cauldron. it would be a short meeting since james wasn't going to risk his brother's safety to spend the whole day at the pub. he had news to give to albus and that was, he was going to be an uncle. it was something that james hadn't thought he would be telling his brother during a war, but it had happened and there was no changing it.

if al was to comment on his own relationship with his brother, then he'd probably say that it's quite decent. of course, he remembered the times when james had teased him about being in slytherin (again and again!), or not really being into quidditch like their father, but he's always kind of rolled his eyes and brushed it off. at one point, he did really care about his brother and father's approval, but that mattered less once he started to grow up. he started thinking along the lines of, 'so what if he got sorted into slytherin?' the little things that james teased him about no longer mattered. and as soon as he started feeling more comfortable in his own skin, him and james's relationship improved. he was appreciative of the times that james helped take the spotlight off of him (it was honestly a win-win situation, since his brother loved being part of all those daily prophet specials, etc.), and james was one of the first people that he came out to. now, with everything that was going on, al knew that if there was just one person that he could count on, it'd be james.
naturally, when his brother asked if they could meet at the leaky cauldron, albus agreed. he hardly made an appearance in the wizarding world nowadays, unless he had a particular reason to, and being recognized was kind of a bad thing. still, it's been a while since he'd seen his brother. when he walked in and spotted the elder potter, al walked over. "what's up?" he asked.
