Nim was sitting at breakfast that morning, quietly eating her lunch. While most people seemed to be rather caught up in what happened to the world outside, Nimrodel certainly wasn't one of those. She preferred to stay neutral, even if her brother and both her parents had decided to choose sides, and not exactly in favour of each other. Nimrodel was still undecided, or rather, didn't want to make a choice. To her making a choice was not an option, as it meant she would owe her allegiance to somebody. Nim much preferred a total kind of freedom in which any side could be hers but wasn't. She wanted the more pure freedom she could get in the completely messed up world that existed. Somebody needed to win the war, although Nim was fairly certain it would never end by now. The power struggle would only have temporary truces while one of both groups worked to regain strength and power. Perhaps the entire world deserved to be destroyed. Muggle and wizard both driven to extinction.
Nimrodel took another bite of her breakfast, her eyes now wondering across the great hall, scanning the various people she studied to occupy her time. She had a bit of a crush one of the teachers but she didn't want that to show so she specifically avoided that direction. Her eyes made their way across each of the table, taking in the appearance of her favourite people to study as she looked. Naturally some knew they had captured part of her interest but they either ignored it or got so uncomfortable that it only became more amusing for Nimrodel to keep staring. She was never a particularly nice person on the outside and although she wanted a loving world, she wasn't actually nice enough to feel bad about getting on the nerves of others for the mere enjoyment of it. Even now she felt that strange sense of amusement as she watched a few of her subjects look away in discomfort.
When her eyes came to the Hufflepuff table they didn't really have much trouble finding one of those popular guys present there. She'd been watching him for a while now, kind of fascinated by popularity and seeing how easily he managed to interact with people. For somebody like Nimrodel, who didn't really get any real social interaction to begin with, it was almost like watching another world all together. She didn't really understand the concept of friendship as it had little to no benefits for her and came with many risks. As she tried to avoid as many risks as possible she didn't make friends if she could avoid it. Their allegiance to one side or the other could appear to have her choosing sides as well, where she didn't want that to happen. So she interacted with both death eaters and their enemies in much the same fashion. Casual and without displaying anything like support or disapproval. She lived safely, taking only the risks she wanted to make, no matter the cost. Still, she sometimes wondered if it was worth the risk to make friends. If it was worth the risk to live in a way like Sean did. That was part of the reason she watched him, to try and figure out if the potential cost of his choices was worth the life he was living. It seemed awfully unbalanced at times.
