YOU'RE GONNA CATCH A COLD from the ice inside your soul Isadora had a rough day so far, she had to keep an eye out for death eaters and order members. Like you could pluck them off the streets like a stray cat. Isadora didn’t like how things went so far and she surely refused to join anyone at this point. She knew choosing sides would make her life worse instead of better and she just didn’t want or need that. The young woman just wanted a happy life with her family and not some pathetic war.
Though she often wondered if this war would ever end, the only thing she could do is be fair to everyone here. Isadora never became a hit witch because she wanted to join a war, she became one because this world needed to be safe. As the young woman pondered about how things went along on work, she almost bumped into a pole. Right before she hit it she saw it standing there. Isadora sighed as she hit the break own her own feet.
Her thoughts made her unable to see clearly it seemed as she slowly moved around the pole. Isadora shook her head and quickly made her way into the three broomsticks. She had been carrying three shopping bags all the way already and her sister told her she would pick them up but that obviously didn’t happen yet. Isadora opened the door and closed it shut behind her so not much cold air could come in and bother the people inside.
Isadora sat down at the last empty table she found tonight. The blonde licked her cold lips as she ordered a water for herself. Isadora wondered if her sister would pop up soon or not and whether she should wait for her or maybe just go home. Though right now she wanted to warm her hands and enjoy some time thinking before heading back into the cold again. Isadora grabbed a book from her bag and placed it on the table while waiting for a drink.
Isadora opened it up and started reading wherever she left off. The girl was such a geek sometimes, she loved spending time inside a book during cold days and evenings. Her eyes were all focused on her book she didn’t see her drink arriving, though she did hear some sounds here and there. Isadora looked up just to see how things went and almost fell back from her chair when she saw someone else at her table. The whole bar was full but she really didn’t see this man joining it.
“ I’m so sorry! I didn’t hear or see you. “ she spoke noticing her glass of water and some people staring. The staring people made her blush and the fact that she just fully seemed to ignore a very handsome man who seemed somewhat familiar made her choke up even more. She knew that face but she couldn’t give it a place whatsoever.
“ John? Seriously?”

LIFE ON THE MOON Jonathan had strolled into the Three Broomsticks about an hour or so earlier. He had just gotten back into the country after procuring some Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder and bringing it back for the Order. The stuff was dead useful for throwing an opponent off of their game, and generally helped them from having to use more force than necessary, which was always a plus in his eyes. It was very important to him to not become the enemy, because then what would be the point? All of their sacrifices would be for naught if they became just as cruel and violent as the Death Eaters.
Jonathan certainly didn't enjoy war. Like most decent people he'd gladly have taken peace. But somethings were worth fighting for. Freedom, for one and the Death Eaters were certainly keen on depriving muggles and muggleborns of that. It was with these heavy thoughts weighing him down that he had sought the Three Broomsticks. It was generally packed enough to where another warm body wouldn't attract too much attention, especially if he drew his cloak near. That and the bruises on his face, along with the growth of a few days of not having, he was certain he'd be left in peace.
He had snagged a table in the corner as well, out of the circle of merriment and dancing that rang out in bars on weekend nights. Students enjoying a Hogsmeade visit before it got -too- late, and the older adults just glad the week was through. Jonathan couldn't help but smile at the joy the small bar seemed to be ringing with. It (along with the Firewhiskey he had been enjoying) filled him with a warm sense of oneness with humanity, that was so hard to come by in these times.
Therefore it was a bit unnerving the complex emotions that flooded him when someone he was familiar with entered the Three Broomsticks. She was a strikingly beautiful, blonde-haired girl with a very fair complexion and warm smile that could bore into the coldest heart. She had aquamarine eyes, that reminded him of beaches, laughter and kindness. They had gone to school together, and she all together caused him to feel a bit unnerved. Isadora was one of the girls he had always fancied from afar, but the time to make something more of their standing as acquaintances never seemed to happen. After they graduated they ended up working in the same Department in the Ministry, and it seemed highly unprofessional to view her as more than a mere colleague. And then well... he was a bit out of a professional job so to speak. Please don't notice me. He prayed to himself looking down at his drink.
She looked incredibly well, flush with life and apparently just done shopping. It looked as if she were completely untouched by the death and destruction that surrounded them. He watched her scan the bar for a seat, and make her way through the throngs of people. His heart seemed to rise higher and higher in his throat as she approached his table, and he broke into a cold sweat. He seized up entirely as she sat herself at the table, but felt a momentary surge of relief when she cracked open a book, paying him no mind at all.
Ok... just sneak away. He thought to himself. He certainly didn't want to be seen by anyone who knew him, least of all her in this disheveled state. She seemed to be in quite the book-induced revery before he thought it safe to sneak out of the crowded bar. He looked her over, torn because it had been sometime since he had reconnected with anyone he had been particularly close to, but he'd be doing her a disservice by associating with her. She still had a career, she still wasn't marked by Death.
It would have been just as well, if in his nervous state, as he stood up he hadn't thudded the table nearly spilling the drinks. He worked a panicked expression when she looked up into his eyes and the flint of recognition glittered brightly in them. He smoothed the expression into a charming smile as she asked his name in greeting.
"Heya... errr long time no see. Howzit" He said slowly sitting down, the ruse busted. He nervously ran his hands through his cloaked hair.

YOU'RE GONNA CATCH A COLD from the ice inside your soul Isadora was both surprised and shocked when she saw Jonathan. How he could end up here and be alive was a miracle to the blonde as she had seen most of the ex aurors being hunted down like sheep. The girl bit her bottom lip out of nerves and habit when she didn’t know what to say or how to even start a conversation without saying something stupid. So maybe she had a small crush on him, no big deal right? Isadora felt bad when she thought of the day when he needed to flee from the ministry, had to leave his job because of the death eaters. Isadora noticed he didn’t have a clean cut shave like he used to have and the bruises sent shivers down her spine.
Why did this war hurt so many people? Wasn’t there enough pain caused by the old war? Right now she just wanted to get on her feet and pull him into a hug while being glad he is still alive and breathing. Those death eaters had hot men on their side of course but they were basically heartless and not like Jonathan whatsoever. Isdora slid her book into the shopping bags and turned to him, still not being able to believe he was the one sitting here with her.
Wait.. was her table really empty? Or was she just being blind once again? Isadora’s head exploded with questions but none that could be answered obviously. The young woman took a sip of her water just to get her voice back. “ oh my god Jon I’m so glad you’re still alive.” She whispered and looked around her. If there were any of those death eater fools around now seeing her with Jon they would both get killed without hesitation.
Though Isadora wanted to stay positive she gave it another smile and took a rather large gulp of her water. Isadora didn’t know if she would ever see most of the ex aurors again. She heard most of them were in Azkaban and are being tortured by the death eaters for fun. She couldn’t imagine that happening to her sister and herself. Isadora loved her family to death and seeing how things like these happen made the world so sad.
She wondered if it would ever end. And like she didn’t have enough issues already, the muggles are also on the hunt. Like they know magic is in this world and some are actually hunting the wizards and witches down. How stupid is that. One damn spell and those people are ruined for life. At least a bullet can be dodged and survived. she thought to herself and took another sip of her water. Isadora turned to Jonathan again and poked his cheek a bit.
“ It is so good to see you.” She admitted and smiled more relieved than just to smile. She often didn’t realize how much she stumbled around at work, fell over things when she saw him and now she just hoped he never noticed. Was her crush still the same or is the man more scarred and bitter now?

LIFE ON THE MOON Jonathan couldn't help but grin at her smile, and whispered exclamation that he was alive. Truth be told, and he wasn't about to confess this to her he was really lucky to be alive. Merlin only knew how he had managed to dodge Azkaban or being murdered when the Auror's were purged from the Ministry. Better people than he went away or were killed. People he had worked with colleagues and friends. It made a sick, hot fire burn in the bottom of his stomach just thinking about it. So he elected to focus on the woman across from him instead. He kept the grin on his face and in a low voice spoke in mock indignation, "Isadora, I can't believe you'd underestimate me like that! I'm shocked and appalled, truthfully."
Jonathan then pulled himself out of the elation he was feeling at seeing an old friend. He scanned the crowd around them, double checking that nobody was paying them any mind at all. Men and women sat on bar stools, some eagerly chatting with Madame Rosmerta as she passed to refill flagons and take orders. Loud music filled the pub and many seemed to be enjoying it, dancing and generally being merry. Others seemed to be in their own little worlds chatting about family, friends and the latest gossip, but Jonathan kept his voice low still, to a even lower whisper and added,"Best use my middle name in public... Can't be too careful, you know?".
Jonathan looked down at his glass before raising it to his lips and taking a healthy swig. The warmth of the Firewhiskey and the pleasant company of someone who did not want to talk strategy, defenses or to tell him the latest death was welcome relief indeed and a shiver of pleasure. He had the feeling that good conversation was exactly what he needed, probably more than some sap for his bruises to help heal himself. His inner appreciation of the situation was interrupted by the soft touch of a fine hand to his bruised cheek. He winced slightly and looked into Isadora's eyes as she spoke.
“ It is so good to see you.”
He returned the warm smile and said very earnestly, "It's so good to see you as well. I'm so pleased that you seem to be doing well." And he genuinely meant it as well. Any small sliver of good news was welcome. He then added, deciding to keep the pleasantries rolling,"What brings you out this cold, evening?"

YOU'RE GONNA CATCH A COLD from the ice inside your soul Isadora was so excited to finally see Jonathan again, she couldn’t help but feel less upset with her sister for it. If it weren’t for her sister running late she wouldn’t be here and she wouldn’t know that Jonathan is still alive and well. What would her sister say about it? Would she be happy too or just plain worried? Isadora thought about that for a second since the opinion of her sister counts more to her than anyone else’s. Isadora hoped she would also like the news but then again could Isadora even tell them?
Isadora chuckled when Jonathan replied to her being glad that he is still alive. “ I’m sorry, I haven’t listened to the missing persons radio for a while. “ she replied which was both a sad and a relieving thing. The radio sent out the names of the people who went missing over time with the death eaters roaming around. Even the hit witches and wizards gave up on even trying to find those people. They were basically missing all the time and as many people know, missing meant death.
Right use his middle name you idiot. Now what was it again? Edward? No..Steward! what? He totally isn’t the Steward type and neither a Steven… Or maybe it was Ethan? Yes definitely Ethan. Isadora thought to herself and gave him a nod in confirmation. It actually was a good idea indeed to use his middle name, not many people in the magical world were called Jonathan with a target painted on their backs. Isadora sighed and took a sip of her drink.
She had no worries that bothered her mind often beside the usual cleaning the house thing, making sure no filth was to be found anywhere. That reminded her off doing the laundry when she got home. She wore this shirt already for the entire day and it grossed her out a bit. Isadora never wore a shirt the entire day.. she always changed her clothes halfway because of the sweating, it just felt dirty. The young woman turned to Jonathan and nodded looking at herself.
She was doing fine but the ministry hasn’t been the same after the takeover. And as she heard, neither is Hogwarts. “ I survived. Thanks to some family members I haven’t gone through torture at all. I wish I could say the same about others. “ she spoke and turned to Jonathan’s bruises. The poor guy had gone through much more than she did. But yes she was doing great, no trouble so far at work and neither did her sister as far as she could tell.
Isadora called herself a lucky bird though she does feel the pressure when it comes to choosing sides. “ I’m out to buy some things for my sister. She needed them and she was supposed to pick me up but as you can see she didn’t. “ she said with a giggle and was glad that her sister didn’t pick her up. If she did she could have never got herself into talking with Jonathan.
“ How about you? Aren’t you supposed to keep your head low?”

LIFE ON THE MOON Jonathan was feeling giddy both from the Firewhiskey and seeing Isadora and was only briefly shaken when she had said had apologized for not listening to the missing persons radio. He didn't blame her, being in the Order he generally heard the news first hand and it could be a bit soul-sucking to hear the constant stream of missing persons and those who had died. In a way he felt glad that the war didn't seem to have touched her so painfully. Not to say she hadn't suffered or lost anything. They all had. You couldn't avoid that sadly, but she didn't seem damaged for it.
He nodded along as she explained that she had escaped persecution due to some family members. Jonathan couldn't help feel a bit of an unease with her family. The Dohlohov's had a spotty record with being associated with the Dark Arts, and certainly some of her extended family were certainly mixed up in it all. Jonathan didn't tend to focus on that though. You couldn't choose who your family was, and Isadora certainly wasn't the type to be a Death Eater. That thought was silly, and had never crossed his mind. His eyes hardened and he seemed to rise, and tower as she mentioned the prospect of being tortured. It made cold waves of fury roll over him and he clenched his fist at the though of someone so kind, and warm being hurt by some faceless Death Eater somewhere.
"Small blessings for them that they didn't touch a hair on your head then." He said in a very cold, level voice. It took him a moment to realize what he had done, and he turned a bit red before he mumbled and apology to her and smoothed his expression to the warm, charming smile he had worn earlier, he looked back into her kind eyes and let her continue on telling him what had brought her out to Hogsmeade for shopping.
He smiled brightly at the mundaneness of it all. Something he missed, going out and just doing the day to day things that everyone did. When he left Grimmauld Place it was always for a calculated purpose anymore. He frowned a bit concerned at her,"I hope she's ok." He didn't really know Isadora's sister, for whatever reason they had never been introduced. He wasn't sure now would exactly be the best time for meeting a new person, and he made a mental note that he'd have to excuse himself later.
He grinned slightly at Isadora in a conspiring manner and joked when she had asked him about keeping his head low,"I'm sitting with horrible posture. My head -is- low. Plus you know cloak and everything... Truth be told I'd not be here if I weren't keeping an eye on things up the hill." He said inclining his head in the direction of Hogwarts, before shivering adding,"Being near so many of them gives me the heeby-jeebies. I'd much rather be on a nice Autumn stroll with a pretty girl." He said grinning widely at her.

YOU'RE GONNA CATCH A COLD from the ice inside your soul She wondered how I was like, being on a side hoping yours would win and no one you care about would die. She wondered if the death eaters had people they cared about in their circle. People they would hope to never die in the process. Did that exist with them? Do they know how it feels like to even think of something like love? To Isadora they always seemed like the cold hearted people who didn’t love, didn’t care and only wanted power. But who did they look up to? Did they even have a leader after the dark lord? So many questions asked and so few that could be truly answered.
Isadora just wanted to know if the world could ever be safe for the people in it. She didn’t want to listen to the radio and hear names , lists and lists of names coming by like they were just words on a piece of paper. She didn’t want to beg that the list would grow shorter each day. She just wanted to live. Have a life with someone she loves and not hoping her kid would receive a letter from Hogwarts knowing how dangerous it is to send that child over. How horrible it is to see the kids being tortured every day.
Oh yes she has heard many rumors and many families complain at her desk. Asking if she couldn’t help them? Could they do this to my child? Look at these bruises! These are not normal! Oh yes Isadora already realized that bruises on a child are not normal, and that she couldn’t do any damn thing about it. That’s life and she wasn’t going to let those scars and misery get to her. She had enough of that for a long time and she is done with it. The fact that she is here with someone she missed so much at work made her day so much better. She couldn’t bear the thought of hearing his name on the radio list.
Isadora kind of frowned when she heard the cold in his voice. Like a protective lion. She was honestly flattered but also a bit scared. Jonathan shouldn’t go up against those people in this condition, he should heal up and rest. Maybe he could come to her place and rest there? What would her sister say about that? Or her brother for that matter! Isadora thought about it but looked kind of worried when she saw him being so cold and suddenly so warm again.
“ I’ll be fine. Just don’t let them find you here. “ she said in a hush tone and gave him one of her own warm smiles again. She loved his eyes, geez how she could get lost in those eyes. When he snapped her out of her day dream saying he was keeping an eye on Hogwarts she nodded sadly. Those poor children indeed. “ Yes those poor kids. It should be a fun experience. Not torture like this. “ she answered and was glad she was safe at Durmstrang.
“ Well I wish I had this company while shopping. It would make things so much more fun. “ she also grinned and noticed her pathetic attempt to flirting. It just failed on her more than it complimented her really. Isadora took another sip of her water and looked at the door. Within a few hours those alarms would go off at any move. “ We should get out of here soon. They will come looking for wanted people in a few hours. “ she sighed and slid on her own coat.

LIFE ON THE MOON Jonathan gave a grim smile as she mentioned the students should be enjoying themselves carefree. He agreed wholeheartedly with her. His own Hogwarts experience had been wonderful and the kids up the school didn't deserve any less. It was atrocious what was going on up at the school. Death Eaters running amok, forcing them to learn the Dark Arts, teaching that awful Muggle Studies class. He perked up from his own depression at the thought of the poor kids that he couldn't do much when she had said Don't let them find you.
He grinned at her and leaned in,"With you to protect me, how could anything bad happen?" He said it in a joking manner, but truth be told she was a very accomplished Hit Wizard. Merlin knew he wouldn't want to go toe-to-toe with her in a duel. He grinned even wider at what she had said next. Was she flirting back at him? He could never seem to tell with her, sometimes he thought she was just playing along and other times he thought she was joking. But maybe their was something there... It was certainly an idea that Jonathan found appealing, but he didn't linger on it.
“ We should get out of here soon. They will come looking for wanted people in a few hours. “
He frowned at the inevitable departure and his face fell a bit as he looked down at his empty mug. He had been having such a lovely time with her as well. He never got to hang out with anyone, let alone someone he enjoyed so much. But then a little voice in his head snapped him out of his self-pity, She said we you dolt! He then looked up into her eyes, with a confused expression on his face. Did she actually mean we? She couldn't possibly mean -we-.
Deciding to be brave he asked a question,"Yeah you're right... Best not get caught here. Where should we go?

YOU'RE GONNA CATCH A COLD from the ice inside your soul Isadora couldn’t be more happy and full of joy then she is right now. She could bring Jonathan to her tiny apartment in muggle London and have him rest up there. The mere idea of him being caught made her shiver. She could bring him to the family mansion but her brother would probably turn on them and kill Jonathan. Why that fool joined the death eaters still beats Isadora. She had such high hopes for him and wanted to watch him growing a good man and not a dickhead like he is now.
No at her apartment Jonathan would be safe for tonight.. that is if he doesn’t have a place of his own of course. Why didn’t she even think of him having a place of his own! How stupid! Why didn’t she think of that first? Maybe they could go for a walk somewhere.. she wasn’t sure really. She surely didn’t even expect him so the fact that she just asked him to leave this place with her didn’t make sure that she knew where to go to. Isadora emptied her glass of water and turned around to see if anyone unfamiliar or even familiar could be spotted.
So far, none. Isadora giggled at his comment. Isadora had to admit she was a rather dangerous person when upset and she has high trained skills when it comes to being a hit witch but just the mere idea now of becoming an auror made her head spin and her heart break. Aurors now are just death eaters with more right to doing shit wrong than the normal ones. The ministry isn’t such a happy place anymore, she badly wished it was. She loved the ministry before the war, and she loved how peaceful it could be on a Friday.
Isadora raised her brow a bit when he looked sad. Didn’t he want to come with her? It sure is a possibility but then again he did seem kind of happy to be around her. Good job Izzy… if you could just put that damn crush aside then MAYBE YOU COULD ACT NORMALLY. Oh god is that a stain on my coat!?! Isadora quickly grabbed a napkin and tried to get the stain off of her coat. The mere idea of those bacteria crawling everywhere on her made the young woman want to cry.
The woman was so busy with her coat and that stain that she barely heard him talking. She heard something that sounded like a question, the logical question would be where she was heading off to. “ Well I’m going to owl my sister when I get back to my apartment. I don’t think bringing you to the mansion would be a good idea. My brother will definitely kill me, then you and then me again. “ she said shaking her head lightly. She hated how her brother picked a side.
“ But he never comes to my house. Unless you want to go home?”
