A REAL
tumbler
Yara was sitting on top of boxes that had been stack precariously. She was small enough that her weight didn’t seem to threaten it much. In her hand she had a red plastic cup full of beer. She was slowly sipping her beer. The absolute tiniest sips. She didn’t really like the flavor and she didn’t care for the effects of alcohol - so she was trying to make this one cup last as long as possible. As she sat on top of the boxes she just watched the crowds of delinquents roaming around the party with her usual glare focusing on one kid to the next.
She had originally come with some other Slytherin’s in her grade but she got bored of their frivolous talk. But now she was just chillin alone on a pile of boxes which wasn’t much of an improvement. The music seemed to be growing louder and louder while the kids seemed to be getting more intoxicated. Yara was thinking about leaving, maybe going to bed. Usually, she carried around her snake which was her security blanket. It also kept people away, which most of the time she was ok with. It wasn’t that she hated people… necessarily. She just often found it hard to integrate herself among everyone. She had a hard time blending in and being part of a group. Yara found it difficult to smile and act interested in things that didn’t mean anything to her. Whenever she had tried she felt like she wasn’t being true to herself and it felt off. But when she didn’t smile and pretend she was totally into every conversation people though she was being a dick and a bad friend. She just didn’t get it. Yara thought people would want real and truthful interactions rather than ones just to stroke their egos.
Yara took another sip, closing her eyes for just a second as she contemplated the fact that even without her snake people stayed away from her. Then out of nowhere she felt the boxes collapsing underneath her. Her eyes shot open to see someone stumbling into where she was sitting. Yara’s beer fell out her hands and spilled everywhere. The boxes weren’t the only thing set in motion. Yara tumbled and fell right on top of someone.
