I've wasted time, I've wasted breath Luke always dreaded visiting Knockturn Alley with his father. It was a dangerous area, and Luke usually avoided it as much as he could. However, his father insisted on bringing him today and wouldn't take no for an answer. 'Father-son bonding time,' he called it. Bullshit, Luke knew his father was grooming him to become a death eater, and wanted to expose him to dark magic as much as he could. Luke walked through the alley with his father, feeling extremely uncomfortable. It was obvious to anyone who paid attention to one's body language that Luke wasn't into this bonding exercise at all. He was jumpy as hell and flinched away when his father would try to put a hand on his shoulder.
As Luke entered Borgin and Burkes, the overwhelming urge to pull his wand out for defense was taking over. Luke hated this store, that much was obvious. He hung back, watching his father look over the shelves. Luke wondered if he could manage to get out of there without his father being aware, at least for a little while. He saw a chance when his father went up to the sales table for whatever reason, and realized that a shelf hid him from his father's view. No chance better than this one, Luke figured as he pulled his wand and walked quietly out of the store.
Where he was going to go he wasn't sure, but as he headed down the alley back to Diagon Alley, he was focused more on leaving than any specific location. He didn't really see where he was going, so as he turned a corner he nearly ran into someone. Crap. 'Don't be my father, please don't be my father...' Luke stood as soon as he had fallen back, wand in his hand. Couldn't be too safe nowadays... Notes template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

I'll try to spare you the pain of my jaws The book would explode if mishandled. To put it quite simply: he really wished someone would’ve told him that before he’d gone to fetch the bloody thing. It looked quite extravagant, the book – gold binding and red velvet cover and petal-soft pages. Books weren’t really his thing but, as books go, this one was quite fetching. Too bad it had a temper and was apparently excruciatingly temperamental to the point that, if you didn’t give it proper respect, it would rather destroy itself than let you read anymore of its pages. Nico didn’t even want to guess what was inside it, if his employers wanted it. So, he didn’t even crack the cover – and, clearly, carrying the damned thing under his arm was like walking on eggshells. What was this thing, a bloody hippogriff? It was annoying. The book. His employers. But at least this let him out of the stuffy place so he didn’t have to breath in anymore of the dust. (Honestly, he was suspicious of whether it was actually dust or if the owners had accidentally spilled some kind of herb or spell or something on all the shelves, because he usually left work every evening feeling like his head was full of stuffing.) Nico was being careful. Oh so, so, so careful. He didn’t want to lose a limb today. He wasn’t always sure his employers would care enough to reattach it for him. This was the reason he just narrowly missed headlonging into someone as they’d come around the corner in Knockturn. He jumped back, stumbled, then grabbed straight for the book under his arm, grasping it tight in his hand to make sure it knew he wasn’t going to let it go falling all over the place. Respect. He needed to seem respectful to it – wait, did that mean he had to be respectful to other people? Ugh. If so, he was probably going to be blown up now that “Watch your bloody step” had fallen out of his mouth. He furrowed his eyebrows as he lifted his head to study the individual – a kid. Around his Ziggy’s age. This was no place for a kid – but who knew? He was probably some purist’s kid. That’s the type that usually went gallivanting around Knockturn… although those types usually didn’t go grasping at their wands when they met up with someone in the Alley. Nico sighed, almost seeming annoyed. “The whole ‘wand at the ready’ thing is not a great look around here. It just makes you look scared – and scared is definitely not going to get you far.” He studied the kid for a moment, then shook his head: “Where are you trying to go, kid?”But it's just in my nature to rip and to shred

I've wasted time, I've wasted breath 'Crap, crap, crap, CRAP,' Luke thought as he recognized who he ran into as one of the assistants from Borgin and Burkes. Luke listened to him and put his wand away, but he still stepped as far back as he could. Luke was, to put it mildly, screwed. He looked at the man. "Sorry, it's force of habit, I just need to get out of here. My dad's in B&B but this whole area gives me the creeps," he said honestly. He looked at the entrance, expecting his father or the owner to come tearing out of the building after him.
Luke shrugged when the man asked him where he was looking to go. In reality he wasn't sure, but he looked at the man, trying to look more confident than he felt. "I wanted to go back to Diagon Alley... Sit in the Leaky Cauldron for a few minutes and come back. I just... I don't like being in Knockturn and I'm not a huge fan of Borgin and Burkes, even though my dad is a regular customer. Too dark for my taste," he said. He wasn't sure exactly how honest he could be with this man, and he knew he worked for the store, so he didn't want to offend him, especially if he was in the same circles as Joseph Becker.
Luke looked back again, but no one had left the store. "I know you're busy, but... I really don't want to be in there while my dad buys whatever he's looking for, he wouldn't tell me what he's in there for. If he asks about me, could you just... say you didn't see me or something?" It was a long shot, but Luke hoped he could convince the guy that he REALLY didn't want to see his father at that moment. Luke knew his father wouldn't even notice he wasn't there since he was probably haggling for whatever he decided to buy. Luke didn't know much about Borgin and Burkes aside from the fact that they sold some really dark magical items. Nothing he wanted to be involved with, that was for sure. Luke got enough exposure to the Dark Arts at school, thank you very much. Notes template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0
