Luke wasn't looking forward to this at all. His father and Tate's parents were overseeing them getting the dark mark, but Luke wanted nothing to do with it. He was almost 18 years old, and this was getting old. He was tired of being controlled, and he knew Tate was as well. It was becoming harder to hide how he felt for his best friend every day up to the ceremony. Luke didn't care any more about what his father thought, what Tate's parents thought, hiding what he was feeling for Tate just hurt, more than anything. Not being able to just hold his hand, hug him, without his father judging him every time was painful. Luke had come out to his parents already, so they knew that he had feelings for the other boy. But boys didn't hold hands with their best friends. Boys just didn't have feelings for their best friends. Those words had been hammered into Luke since he was 14 years old. Luke glared out of the window as he buttoned his shirt sleeves. He was dressed in black, the suit sent by his father by owl the night before. He was expected to take the dark mark, even though he didn't want it. He didn't want to be on the dark side. It wasn't in his nature and he didn't care. He wanted Tate. He wanted to tell that boy he loved him, that he'd had romantic feelings for him since they were young. Luke had never believed in soulmates until he met Tate. Even though they were young when Luke met him, Luke had never felt closer to someone aside from his sisters. Anyone with eyes could tell the two were made for each other, but they had to deny every time the rumor surfaced. Luke wanted to climb to the top of the astronomy tower and scream it out for anyone who would listen to him, but he wasn't allowed. Luke grabbed his wand and put it in the pocket in his cloak, fastening it around his neck. He was moving on autopilot, even though all he wanted to do was grab his broom, take Tate and flee, get the hell out of the wizarding world. He stepped away from the window. Luke had to say something to Tate about this before they were forced to vow to something neither of them wanted. He was sick of hiding how he felt. The ceremony was being held in the forest, but Luke was determined not to go alone. He couldn't do this without Tate. He looked over as he fiddled with the buttons on his suit jacket. "Ready? Cause I'm not," he said, trying not to sound as nervous as he felt. All he wanted to do was get back into the bed with Tate and cuddle into him when he saw how scared the other boy looked. I've wasted time, I've wasted breath 'Crap, crap, crap, CRAP,' Luke thought as he recognized who he ran into as one of the assistants from Borgin and Burkes. Luke listened to him and put his wand away, but he still stepped as far back as he could. Luke was, to put it mildly, screwed. He looked at the man. "Sorry, it's force of habit, I just need to get out of here. My dad's in B&B but this whole area gives me the creeps," he said honestly. He looked at the entrance, expecting his father or the owner to come tearing out of the building after him.
Luke shrugged when the man asked him where he was looking to go. In reality he wasn't sure, but he looked at the man, trying to look more confident than he felt. "I wanted to go back to Diagon Alley... Sit in the Leaky Cauldron for a few minutes and come back. I just... I don't like being in Knockturn and I'm not a huge fan of Borgin and Burkes, even though my dad is a regular customer. Too dark for my taste," he said. He wasn't sure exactly how honest he could be with this man, and he knew he worked for the store, so he didn't want to offend him, especially if he was in the same circles as Joseph Becker.
Luke looked back again, but no one had left the store. "I know you're busy, but... I really don't want to be in there while my dad buys whatever he's looking for, he wouldn't tell me what he's in there for. If he asks about me, could you just... say you didn't see me or something?" It was a long shot, but Luke hoped he could convince the guy that he REALLY didn't want to see his father at that moment. Luke knew his father wouldn't even notice he wasn't there since he was probably haggling for whatever he decided to buy. Luke didn't know much about Borgin and Burkes aside from the fact that they sold some really dark magical items. Nothing he wanted to be involved with, that was for sure. LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and @nelly: I think they'd get along pretty well too  LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and DARIUS JOSEPH GOYLE: They're both getting the mark when they leave school as well, which Luke dreads more than anything. Luke's more on the Order's side than he is neutral but he wouldn't admit that to Darius since he doesn't want anyone's cover blown so he acts neutral. LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and EMMA GRACE FINNIGAN: Anyone in the GOH probably wouldn't have liked Luke at first; he had some prejudices growing up thanks to his father, but he woke up pretty fast and is trying to get over them and he let the others know when he joined them that it's mostly a cover, and that he really is on their side.

I've wasted time, I've wasted breath Luke always dreaded visiting Knockturn Alley with his father. It was a dangerous area, and Luke usually avoided it as much as he could. However, his father insisted on bringing him today and wouldn't take no for an answer. 'Father-son bonding time,' he called it. Bullshit, Luke knew his father was grooming him to become a death eater, and wanted to expose him to dark magic as much as he could. Luke walked through the alley with his father, feeling extremely uncomfortable. It was obvious to anyone who paid attention to one's body language that Luke wasn't into this bonding exercise at all. He was jumpy as hell and flinched away when his father would try to put a hand on his shoulder.
As Luke entered Borgin and Burkes, the overwhelming urge to pull his wand out for defense was taking over. Luke hated this store, that much was obvious. He hung back, watching his father look over the shelves. Luke wondered if he could manage to get out of there without his father being aware, at least for a little while. He saw a chance when his father went up to the sales table for whatever reason, and realized that a shelf hid him from his father's view. No chance better than this one, Luke figured as he pulled his wand and walked quietly out of the store.
Where he was going to go he wasn't sure, but as he headed down the alley back to Diagon Alley, he was focused more on leaving than any specific location. He didn't really see where he was going, so as he turned a corner he nearly ran into someone. Crap. 'Don't be my father, please don't be my father...' She's scared of everything that's going on and tends to cling to her brother and sister, especially around their dad. She's really scared of him. She's in Slytherin like the others, mostly cause she was afraid of what her dad would do if she didn't get sorted there.
Joseph BeckerAge: Late 30's early 40's Former house: Slytherin Job: Unspeakable Alliance: Death Eaters PB: Open The bane of Luke's existence, his father. Luke can't stand this man and hates everything he believes in. Joseph's family has been allied with the Death Eaters since his great grandfather had been in the first Wizarding War, and his grandfather and father before him, as well as his brothers. You get it, the man is a full-on blood purist. He runs his house with an iron fist and has his three children basically scared to cross him. He is not above using unforgiveables on his kids to keep them in line and Luke has been on the wrong end of the Cruciatus curse more than once.
Melissa Becker (neé Collins)
Age: Late 30's

Job: Housewife Alliance: Neutral (though to her husband she supports the Death Eaters) PB: Open Luke's mother Melissa is his protector basically. She's not as extreme as her husband, mostly since they are in an arranged marriage. She hated Joseph's guts in school, but their families forced them to marry, so she's not as into the idea of forcing her own kids into the same arrangements. Melissa is probably the ONLY person that can tell her husband when he's being a jackass and to lay off the kids. She had never been much of a blood purist, but she's not interested in the Order, more focused on keeping her own children safe. Luke pretty much tells his mother everything since he knows he can trust her.

LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and ZIGGY MICHA'EL MORENO: Luke hates his father, especially when he realized the man was involved with a bunch of the murders. Luke and Ziggy can definitely be friends. He probably has more friends in the other houses than he does in his own aside from a couple of them. LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and CAMDEN MONTGOMERY DAVIES: Definitely friends. Luke tries to be nice to people as well (considering the house he's in, he has to be careful) but he's loyal to the people he does make friends with. LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and MADISON ELISSE GOLDSTEIN: Luke probably wouldn't give her much of his time if she's a bitch to him.

LUKAS ETHAN BECKER and SCORPIUS HYPERION MALFOY: DADA is one of Luke's best subjects and I think he'd look up to Scorpius a lot, especially as his father puts more pressure on him to join the Death Eaters, which he doesn't want to do.

| Luke is a 7th year Slytherin, born into a pureblood family though he tries to distance himself as far from the DE mindset as possible. He's protective of the people he's close to. He can be a jerk to people outside of Slytherin house, but most of the time it's just an act. To those he gets along with, Luke is an absolute sweetheart. He's wary of people who hold true blood purist views since his father's family are mostly death eaters or were. Luke is more like his mother; her family was strictly neutral during both wizarding wars; they're not all purebloods, there's a few half-bloods and muggleborns in there, but the youngest generation (which includes Luke's great grandparents, cousins, etc. and on down the line) are all pureblood. To save time and interest, Luke just says he's pureblooded.
FRIENDS: Luke gets along with just about anyone he meets, though he's a bit choosy on who he actually befriends. Luke doesn't let a lot of people in, but he is extremely loyal to the people he does get along with. Luke will befriend people outside of his house, however. Luke's best friend is Tate Simon, who he met in First year when they were sorted together and their friendship just clicked.
ENEMIES: Luke might have a couple of these on both sides. Those who only know him as a Slytherin might think he's just like them, but DE's and those who support him might hate him since he supports the Order (not like he'll say that out loud) and is part of the Guardians of Hogwarts. (again, not saying that out loud) Other than that, Luke's inability to keep his mouth shut might earn him a couple of enemies. The only real way to get on Luke's bad side is to hurt his friends or sisters. He may not look like it but he's a fairly good dueller and hurting them or insulting his sexuality will get a wand held to your neck pretty fast. Anything else will get an eyeroll and an insult.
LOVERS: Luke has been crushing on Tate Simon since they met almost. Okay, so that's not QUITE true, but he started really liking the other boy in around his 5th year, which is also when he officially came out as gay. Tate was actually the first person he told, aside from his sisters, and he hasn't hidden how much he likes Tate. Actually telling him Luke likes him however? He hasn't gotten to that yet. |

There was no denying how much Lukas hated Reaping day. It was worse now since he was freed from it, but having to be up on that stage in the square next to Atom and the mayor, watching Tate and his sisters sign in and get in their respective groups... It was frightening even now, more so since it wasn't himself he needed to worry about. The Capitol knew very well how close Luke was to his sisters, and how much he loved Tate. He didn't put it past the President or Vice President if they wanted to use his loved ones against him. If it weren't for them, he wouldn't have fought so hard to get home.
Luke sat there watching as the escort pulled the female's name. He closed his eyes in relief when he didn't hear Elizabeth's or Alyssa's names. Now for the boys. He looked down to see Tate, praying the boy would be safe for his last reaping...
"Calhoun Chaney!"
"NO!!!" Luke stood in his seat and shouted angrily, knowing that name well. Cal was the little boy who's mother watched the girls. Luke knew the Chaneys well, his father was friends with the kids' parents. Luke, Tate and the girls had practically grown up with their kids. Luke wasn't able to hold in his anger anymore, but he kept what he REALLY wanted to say in since he knew the Capitol would be watching and watching closely. Hadn't these psychopaths gotten enough last year?! The tributes were young then as well. He was pretty sure Proctor had the ability to read minds so he kept his thoughts to himself. He looked at Atom helplessly, trying to keep his cool after his outburst. Cal, to his benefit, seemed completely nonchalant, and Luke wanted to hug the little boy. He had no idea what he was about to go through.
'Oh, do shut the fuck up,' Luke thought, rolling his eyes hearing the escort speak again. He wanted to shout that Cal was a little boy. He was a CHILD. Why the HELL was no one volunteering?! Luke would be able to deal with a kid he didn't know, why did it have to be the youngest ones being called up. He had ONE entry, as far as Luke knew. Why did it have to be HIM? |
