((I didn't know what to do.... So it's crazy short...))
Ever since his wife died, Alastair had become more wary of those in the magical community. Less likely to trust that they had good intentions, less willing to let his son wander about without him there to supervise. But of course there were limits to what a muggle was able to do without being killed. So Alastair submitted himself to leaning against the shop nearest the pub his son went into. He watched as the rest of the world just swirled by in a mess of laughter and shopping bags, none of them so much as looking at the pub that doesn't exist to them. He stood off to the side of the building, prepared to settle in for the long haul without anything to do but people watch.
Another two hours went by before he managed to glance between the building he shouldn’t be aware of and his watch. He knew his son would probably be far too many hours until he was done. Alastair resisted the urge to sigh as he turned and walked down the street to the small cafe, setting up so he could still keep an eye on the Leaky Cauldron. Anyone who might have been watching the muggle man would have been suspicious at this point, but Alastair wasn’t so worried about any of them. The likelihood of being attacked in muggle London was small. His son was going through more risk right now.

”I WILL DIE PROTECTING THE WATERS” This was the close to the dumbest idea he had ever had, and not only that it could end up getting him killed or worse; the entire Waters family. He was not to step foot in Britain in anyway shape or form but here he was in muggle London near the Leaky Cauldron. He had not told Arik about his mission to London to retain some information he knew, the older man would have never agreed to it. It had to be done, it is confirmed thought Gerald as he walked down the streets in a black overcoat dressed like any normal muggle. His grey hair was darker this time and his normal beard was completely shaven off, and he donned glasses as well. The man was perfect at blending in with muggles now and he had done everything he could to try to alter his appearance to make sure no one recognized him. Stopping in a side alleyway he took a little breath as he glanced along to where the Leaky Cauldron was as he did he saw a man look at his watch and glance over to where the building was. Raising an eyebrow Gerald came out of the alleyway and started following the man who was making his way down the street.
He had seen the man two hours earlier leaning on the same shop, in the same spot when he had first passed the Leaky Cauldron on his little mission. He watched as the man went into a small muggle café down the street, he walked in after the man slowly whispering to him ”I don’t think that old shop is ever being fixed up”. Knowing full well to any muggle that is what they saw a broken old shop front, and he was sure the man he had just spoken to was a muggle.

Alastair knew the building he had stood beside was not actually the building that existed. He couldn't see the difference himself but he'd seen enough people appear from nowhere outside the door and blend in the crowd to know what it really was. That wasn't taking into account that his wife and daughter and son had all shopped there. No, he knew The Leaky Cauldron existed and he knew that what he was looking at wasn't that far off of the exterior. Still. It didn't make an interesting viewing target for those two long hours.
As he made his way into the cafe, still eyeing one of the empty tables that would give him the best vantage the door behind him opened and a soft whisper came towards him. While he was fairly certain he wasn't about to be attacked in public, the man wouldn't take chances on what would be a logical choice or not. After all he'd be dead and they could erase it with magic, he was sure. The man flicked his eyes towards the man behind him, taking in the dark grey hair and black overcoat similar to his own. In the few seconds this all took place there was the quiet click of his safety being flicked off.
"I often thought so myself, but with all the traffic to the old building... Seems like a reopening is possible." Alastair turned his head to nod to the older man as he made his way to the counter, hand still brushing the side where his gun was concealed. "But maybe it's not the building that's popular, or so I've heard." There wasn't a smile to his voice or anything that could be threatening from it. He just hinted enough that a fellow muggle might think he meant squatters and druggies. A magical creature.... Well who knew how they might react. || WORD COUNT: XXX || NOTES: Wood and steel. || TAGS: @winters || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

”I WILL DIE PROTECTING THE WATERS” He had thought the man as a muggle, but now he started to have his doubts based on the man’s answers. Of course he could have just been an extremely observant muggle seeing people appear and blend into the crowd from the old broken shop. Those glimpses could prove devastating to the secrecy of magic if enough muggles believed to be that something was up with the place. Still that wasn’t the biggest threat currently, with death eaters running the magical world. The biggest threat was the entire destruction by them of both worlds magical and muggle. He raised an eyebrow when the man spoke and nodded his head, his hands at his side near his wand if he needed to reach to it. For now let’s play this by ear thought Gerald as he watched the man move to the counter. He once again raised an eyebrow as the man spoke saying maybe that it wasn’t the building that was popular. He wondered if this was a muggle with knowledge of the magical world or at least knew that the broken down shop front was truly something else.
He knew he shouldn’t be dawdling along in London anymore but something about this man intrigued him despite his better interests. ”Really well I guess it be a good thing for the economy if it opened up” spoke Gerald as he moved to the counter taking a seat slightly to the other side of the man. ”Really something other than the building?” asked Gerald with a calm tone as he turned to face the man and eyeing him slightly.

Alastair's eyes flicked down to where the older man's hand was resting at his side. Questioning in his mind whether it was a wand or a gun he was reaching for. Either way he kept his hand near his own gun, ready to pull it out should the other become a danger to the oblivious people. With his hand in place he took a seat at the counter and motioned for a girl over so that he could order a sandwich and glass of water. Once done he turned his attention back to the older man. Still wondering what sort of person he was dealing with but not wanting to reveal more information than he absolutely had to in order to find out. In the perfect scenario Alastair would just brush the man off to throw off any sort of suspicion, but with his son lingering out of his sight he thought it best to keep the possible enemy engaged.
One couldn't be to careful in this world anymore.
"I can't say I agree with you, sir. I think London would better off if that old hovel stayed closed. Nothing good can come of that sort of place." It sounded pointed enough. He offered the other man a smile and nodded his head once, not reacting at the other sat down beside him. His hand was still beside his gun. There was nothing else he could do to be better prepared. "From what I've heard it's the alley everyone is interested in. But who knows, what with all the strange going ons these days." Alastair offered the young girl a smile as she slipped his sandwich and glass in front of him, passing over a tenner in return.

”I WILL DIE PROTECTING THE WATERS” He watched as the man ordered sandwich and glass of water from one of the young ladies who was working the café. He himself had already attend before his journey from the safe house in Ireland to here but, he was dying for coffee. He quickly ordered a cup from the girl before she went back with the other man’s order. His mind was still wondering about weather this man was muggle or wizard, friend or foe. Glancing at a clock overhead he made sure to keep track of his time as he could not stay for long to figure who the guy was. Hell if Waters walks by I’m dead thought Gerald as he glanced back at the man as he started to speak. He was starting to believe more and more that the man truly knew that the old broken down building was really not that at all. He was clever not to directly put it out there hidden in the words he spoke, he had to respect the man’s ability to do so. The word ’alley’ was interesting use by the man, in Gerald’s mind he linked it to Diagon Alley at once. As the Leaky Cauldron held the entrance to the alley from muggle London.
”Well maybe it’s best it stay closed down…like some say let sleeping dogs lye”said Gerald a reference for those knowing to let the secret of it all stay hidden. It was best for both worlds as he saw being half-blood with a muggle mum. He took out his wallet from his overcoat and passed some of the muggle money for the cup. He nodded with a thank you to her and took a few sips before glancing to the clock and the man once again. ”Well can agree strange things seem to be happening” said Gerald have no real insight where this conversation may lead. His hand did not rest as close to his side but he was fast with the draw of a wand, just like those old cowboys in the western films his mum loved so much.
