Alyssa was born as the daughter of Jason and Sarah Grant. They were happy to be living as muggles, completely ignorant about the magical world. Sarah was a third grade teacher and her husband -Jason- worked and owned his own mechanic shop. They weren't originally natives of England. In fact they only moved over to the UK from America when Alyssa was three years old.
Her childhood was a happy one, despite being an only child. She was never lonely and never had anything she could wish for. Odd things happened whenever she was around but all that could easily be pushes aside as coincidence. Even if bunnies didn't usually come in pink. She spent most of her young years running around the shop, pretending to help her dad and singing loudly with her mom.
Then came a letter from Hogwarts. Claiming not only was magic real but that Alyssa was a witch. The truly muggle girl looked at the letter skeptically and it took an actual trip down to something called Diagon Alley in order for her to believe it. Her family was even more skeptical than the young girl, but they still let their daughter run off to wave a stick around.
She was sorted in Ravenclaw on her arrival, which meant nothing to the young girl but she went with it. Then her years were filled with strange classes, impossible physics, and summers spent under the hood of a car with her dad. It was at Hogwarts she met Lukas, a fellow muggleborn like herself. Lukas was a charming man, witty and sharp tongued, always willing to help her out with her more muggle tasting pranks. He was the Clyde to her Bonnie, even if he was a Gryffindor.
Even though the world of magic was amazing and everything seemed so easily obtained by just a swish and flick, Alyssa missed the easy life she'd had before coming to Hogwarts. She never felt fully comfortable with her magic and often avoided any sort of spell when she could just as well get up and walk to get what she needed. Which is why, when it came time to chose an occupation, Alyssa decided she would return to the world she'd left and become a mechanic.
So at the graduation ceremony she tossed away the world she'd been growing up in for the past seven years and returned to the thriving mass of muggles. Less than a week after graduation she'd snapped her wand and tossed it away so that she wouldn't be tempted to return to lifestyle she knew. But she was a Ravenclaw through and through, so she took her time to master the art of wandless magic so she'd never be unprepared.
She wasn't alone in her return to the muggle world. Lukas had followed her back to their old lives, though he insisted on remaining aware of the world through the Daily Profit where she'd just shrug it off as if it were no concern. Despite their differences on handling their mostly non-magical existence they got married when they were both twenty years old. Two years later Alyssa was a mechanic and Lukas was finishing law school when she became pregnant with their first child. Which brought back a return to their childish pranks. Lukas insisted that they call their child Miles if it was a boy while Alyssa said he'd hate them forever and they should just call him Derek. So they settled their argument with a game of poker. Alyssa lost and it was agreed that if their child was a boy he'd be called Miles Derek Miles.
Three months after the game of poker that decided their child's name, Alyssa got an owl from St. Mungos. The first owl she'd gotten in near four years. It stated simply that Lukas had gotten into an accident and she needed to come. When she got there she found her husband had been hit by a muggle car, but by the time anyone realized he was a wizard it was already too late to bring him back around. He died later that night from injuries.
After that Alyssa's world spiraled completely away from magic. Away from anything that might remind her of Lukas. Six months after that incident she gave birth to Miles D. Miles. At her insistence to be a muggle she gave birth at a muggle hospital and when complications ensued, there wasn't anything they could do. The procedure used to save both her and her son left the muggleborn with thick scars across her stomach along with even worse ones inside that prevented her from being able to have another child.
She's been living completely as a muggle for the past four years and has gotten past Lukas' death but is unwilling to return to magic because of the whispers she heard about Death Eaters.
