the bell on top of the door rang as he walked into the small shop. he remembered his days at hogwarts, and how every year, while shopping for school supplies, he'd find his way here while his sister and family helped him pick out the books. he always got in trouble for wondering off, but there was just something about a room full of brooms and quidditch supplies that drew elias to it, almost instantly, even as an eleven-year-old. and later on, once he made the house team, his father had bought him his own broom--top of the notch at the time.
he honestly had no reason to be in the shop now; his professional career was long over. but he couldn't help it. he still walked in every time he had errands to run in diagon alley. the shop owner, by this time, was perfectly well acquainted with him, and even though he never really actually need anything from the store, he buys a few things here and there, just so he's not the one person who always comes in and leaves without buying anything. eyeing a brand new beaters bat, elias reminisced about his time as a professional player. how he'd made the daily prophet sports section almost every day during the season.
elias picked up the bat, felt the weight in his hands, and then put it back down with a heavy sigh.

She was never really a Qudditch player never in her times at Hogwarts however, she was somewhat ok at flying she preferred to be on the ground not in the air. Part of her wonder if that is why her Angmaius took the form of a Lynx. However; she did have a huge love for the outdoors and nature of course considering the field she went into for her job. She had opened her store five years ago when she was only twenty six using inheritance from her mother’s death. Yet she found herself walking down to the Qudditch shop because she had been looking to buy a broomstick for one of her favorite customer’s kids. The day had slowed down enough for her to be able to break away from the shop and be able to eventually find one that would be the best for the kid. Eleanor had a knack for doing things like this for those customers that spent so much in her store, after all if it was for out them she would be without her business. Entering the small shop she took a quick look around she hadn’t usually came in it before unless to bring flowers to the other shop owners of Diagon Alley. She smiled at the shop owner and waved before looking at a few of the broomsticks along the wall, over in one of the aisles she spotted another customer. A man who seemed maybe around her years, she watched him pick up a beaters bat and look at it before giving a sigh as he had put it back. Interested in the rather handsome man she also believed she had seen his face in the Daily Prophet or somewhere before. ”Did you use to play, I’ve seen your face before I know I have” spoke Eleanor her voice pleasant as ever as she gave the guy a warm smile. ”Oh sorry, I’m Eleanor Bauer…I own Regnum Magicis Plantis up the alley” she spoke once more introducing herself with her hand extended. a few years ago, at the height of his career, elias remembered being recognized just by walking around. fans would greet him, ask for his autograph, a hug, tips on flying--all of which elias gladly gave them. unlike a few of his former teammates, he never let the fame get into his head. his father and sister kept him grounded.
not like any of that mattered now, he supposed, but still... there was something pretty exciting about being recognized. even if it was just a, "you look familiar!" kind of remark. elias spun around to see a pretty girl, and, abandoning his previous wistfulness at not being able to play, he returned her smile. it was a bit forced, but a smile nonetheless. he wasn't a rude person, and he quite enjoyed others' company. "yes. former beater of the u.s. national team. and a few others." he's played for several teams, and didn't want to name them all--just the first one. he choked out the words 'former beater'. it was weird to use the word "former" or "retired"--actually, it broke his heart a little every time he said that... even if it has been a few years.
he took her hand and shook it, smiling a bit more now. "elias leventhal. nice to meet you," he said in return. he tried to remember what regnum magicis plantis sold, exactly. flowers? herbs? plants? a mix of all three? he wasn't exactly sure. it was a relatively new store, he believed, and he hardly went into the stores he didn't need to go into (quality quidditch supplies being the exception) when he runs errands. "are you... looking for something?" he didn't want to be rude, but he also didn't want the conversation to start heading in the "awkward" direction. he supposed that asking her if she was looking for something specific would be a safe way to go. plus, he might even be able to help.
@eleanor that works just fine. <3

”BOTH SIDES ARE SPILLING MAGICAL BLOOD…” She knew enough about Quidditch to know some of the teams professionally and she had always went to the games when she was a student back in school. She knew the positons she had just never ever played the game itself however. She gave a smile at him and didn’t flinch twice about him being a former beater. To her she saw Beaters as one of the most acceptable positions to injury, considering they were supposed to keep bludgers off them and their team. She was intrigued that he had played for a few of them but even more so that one was a major U.S. team. America had some most interesting plants was the first thought that popped up into the Herbologist’s head. After shaking his hand and getting his named she nodded now she had heard about him before, something about an injury that had hurt his career. To Eleanor one of the most logical and realistic people it was a risk with the job in taking it just as her risk of being bitten by a poisonous plants. ”Yes I remember reading about you. Sorry I’m not a big Quidditch fan…was usually busy in the greenhouses. Very nice to meet you too not every day I get to meet a Quidditch star” said Eleanor in her normal pleasant tone.
She nodded at once when he asked if she was looking for something, indeed she was and he was perhaps a perfect person to help her. ”Oh yes I am…I’m looking for a broom for one of my customers, their son is wanting to try out for the house team. Any recommendations from a pro?” asked Eleanor flashing him a little smile as she looked over at a few of the brooms unsure of which one to really get.

eleanor mentioned something about not being a huge quidditch fan. "no worries. that's understandable," elias said, giving her another smile. to him, though, quidditch had always been a huge part of his life. sure, his mother was completely speechless (and perhaps worried as hell) to have seen elias flying around in the backyard at the age of four, not to mention she was completely against the idea of elias playing on the house team and then later professionally ("you need an actual career," she had said), but the rest of his family? the ones that are wizards? they've always been fans. his father had invested a lot of money on specific teams, and elias couldn't remember a single time he'd missed going to the quidditch world cup. quidditch was a huge deal in his family--which was why both him and his sister started playing pro--but he could understand that it wasn't everybody's cup of tea.
elias looked over at the display of brooms and he couldn't help but feel a bit of childish excitement at eleanor's request. anything to get his mind off staring at the beater's bat/thinking about his career. "yeah, sure, I can help with that," he told her, walking over to the display. The brooms weren't exactly organized by a type. or a price. It was kind of random, actually, and he supposed that only the store's owner--or someone who's done a lot of research--could really figure out which one to get. "I guess picking one also depends on your price range," elias said. "and the skill level of the student." he pointed to three of the brooms. "these three are pretty decent if you're on a budget. good control, and speed. not top notch, but definitely good enough for the house team." he nodded. "and this one," he picked up the broom and handed it to eleanor to see. "one of my favorites. started playing pro on this one... the speed and range of control is amazing, but, it takes a bit more to get the hang of it." he looked at the broom fondly, before moving on to his final recommendation. "and finally, there's the newest broom on the market... it's what most professional players are using nowadays," he said. sure enough, most of his players had one of those. good reviews on it, too, though the price and quality may be too high for someone just looking to play at school. "questions? or... anything else that looks good and you want me to explain?" he asked, still looking at the row of brooms. he chuckled. "they should really hire me," he half-joked. seriously, though, he knew enough about quidditch supplies to explain to people, and he was certainly in here for a good amount of time.

”BOTH SIDES ARE SPILLING MAGICAL BLOOD…” She was glad he wasn’t one of those guys who got hurt or in disbelief that she was not a big fan of what they were in, especially with something like Quidditch. Giving him a little smile she nodded and brought her handbag a little closer to herself as he stated that he could help her. She was happy that he was willing to help her knowing he would know best which one she should get. Not wanting to blow all her money but get one that was above average in some way was what she wanted to do. To impress the customer and let her know that their business and loyalty was never taken for granted and that Eleanor appreciated them very much. She tried doing little gifts for all her loyal customers believing it would go a long way, and so far it had kept working for her. Walking over to the display case where he was she looked at the different broomsticks he started pointing out to her. She admired the most costly brooms and the newer ones believing they would be a great gift but it was going too far out her responsible budget plan she set for herself. Must be aware of spending thought Eleanor not wanting ever to run out of money.
”I think one of the lesser pricey ones would be good for him, I believe he is trying out for a Seeker. Any particular one you think would be best for him?” asked Eleanor as she eyed a few of the other broomsticks waiting for his reply. She gave a laugh and her signature smile as he half-joked that he could work at the place, she was surprised he didn’t halfway own a shop like it. ”That or you could always open yours. It’s wonderful owning your own shop, being your own boss. It’s freeing just like nature” said Eleanor. Then she added quickly hoping she would not completely embrass herself with what she said next, ”Plus with your looks you’ll get all the ladies as customers” with a small laugh.

"seeker," elias grinned, "that's the position my sister plays." he handed her one of the ones that he recommended first. "this would do nicely, then," he told eleanor. elias chuckled when eleanor suggested that he open his own shop, and then felt color rising up to his cheeks as she made the next comment. he didn't make much of it--reporters said things like that all the time when he was still playing--but it was hard not to react to it, because, well, the pretty woman in front of him wasn't another reporter doing her job. "as much as i believe you," he said, "i don't know if i can actually own my own shop." he shrugged. "i coach, now. can't seem to get away from the pitch." he smiled a bit. he'd taken an office job in the department of magical games and sports after his injury, but didn't like it. at all. the monotonous pace of the office was nowhere that the former quidditch star wanted to be. coaching as not nearly as exhilarating as playing, but it was closer. and while he could've just taken up a job at a quidditch supply store... or started his own, as she'd suggested, that wouldn't feel quite right either. "anything else you need help with?" he asked.
