Milagros didn’t often wander into Diagon Alley without first using Poly Juice Potion to make sure wasn’t swarmed by fans. However, her baby owl, Pippa, needed more formula and she hadn’t realized until her feeding time… and now she had nothing to give the poor thing. Milagros wrapped her head in a scarf with vintage sunglasses like a 50’s era muggle movie star. She wanted to make it difficult for people figure out who she was. It seemed to be working because she was able to make it to shop without more than a few double takes as people tried to prove or disprove to themselves that they were seeing wizard-world-famous pop start, Milagros Sanchia Ora.

Milagros entered the Magical Menagerie Shop knowing this was the quickest place to get what she needed. She grabbed a basket at the front and began to wander through the isles and stuffing it with and that, for her little bird. The whole time, little Pippa sat on her shoulder watching everything with big curious eyes. Milagros turned to go down the next eye and found some sacks of powder to make baby owl formula with. She went to grab one, but it wasn’t tied tight enough and fell out of her hands and landed on someone’s foot.

Milagros gasped as she immediately looked at the women whose foot she had just hit. Milagros looked petrified, completely embarrassed. ”I am so so so sorry!” Milagros couldn't think clearly enough to just use her wand and clean it up as any other witch probably would.

Milagros had asked the man if he was a death eater. No response. She could just hear the barely understandable pleadings of the man chained to the pillar. He was begging her, begging Milagros to help him. It didn’t matter who he was, what he had done. His pleading voice was so raw, so in the moment and full of real fear. It made her shudder inside. How could a person sleep at night after torturing a person to the point of begging for their life. It was one of the most awful things she ever had to hear. The man chained to the pillar made eye contact with her. It was too painful. She couldn’t look at him. She couldn’t look him in the eye if she couldn’t help him. If she had to leave him chained up until death took him. Milagros was still waiting for a response when she heard the older man with the wand speak to him. He told him he was minutes from kill him. That no one would be saving him today. Milagros could feel a lump forming in her throat. It felt dry and scratchy as she began to get a better picture of what had been going on here and how things would soon end.

The man with the wand chuckled and the other one chained to the wall feel quiet and began to stare at the floor. Milagros watched as the man with the wand lowered it. Milagros still kept her’s steady. She was definitely as skilled as this older man presumably was. She couldn’t make the foolish mistake of false security because his wand wasn’t directly pointed at her. He called her by name. It wasn’t unexpected. Her smiling face was on promotional signs all over the wizarding world. He told her it was pleasure to meet her and gave a name. Gerald. He put an arm up. A sign of him not being a threat to her. But still she wasn’t yet convinced. Milagros knew all about how Death Eaters were manipulative… they were like wolves in sheep’s clothing… or like a snake hiding in the grass.

Gerald continued. He explained that the chained man was a death eater and that he had no intention of letting him go. That this man was a threat to a friend of his. Milagros was still unsure. Still confused. Sill in doubt of who to trust. It made her anxious. Maybe Gerald was the death eater and this man was an order member or something. How could she possibly know? ”You’re not a death eater though?” She asked trying very hard to keep her voice from shaking. ”Who do you claim this man is threatening?” Perhaps if she knew, maybe the story would make more sense. Maybe it would make his position more understandable. ”You’re gonna…” she took an awkward breath ”You’re gonna kill this man? she asked afraid of the answer she was about the hear.

Milagros was in Italy because she was performing a few concerts for the local witches and wizards. She had just arrived a few hours prior. She came a bit early hoping to explore the area a bit and learn some more about the muggle history. Milagros had always had a bit of a soft spot for muggle history. During her time at Hogwarts she had barely passed History of Magic because long lists of goblin wars and such didn’t peak her interests the way muggle history did. She had been raised by her aunt who was a squib but she still was almost always surrounded by other wizards and very much apart of the magical community from the start. Muggles were different and foreign and always an intriguing mystery waiting to be solved. When she came to Rome she knew there was much to offer for the adventurer in her. She always looked forward to when she could blend into muggle crowds… where no one was clamoring at her or demanding autographs or flashing camera lights in her face. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her fans… it was quite the opposite. Milagros was always known for her love and expression of it to her fans. She was always kind to them and often lingered longer than she should just so she could make their day. However, it did get tiring day after day. Being among the muggles gave her the opportunity to be anonymous and it was always a refreshing feeling.

There is a phrase that goes, ‘When in Rome, do what the Romans do’. She couldn’t help but think of that when she saw the colosseum. It was night time and it was closed off to the public. But she was not the usual traveler. She was a witch. Milagros made sure no one was around to see her as she snuck into the ancient arena. As she walked around it, she was completely floored. It was amazing.

She had only been inside for a short time when she heard a man’s voice shouting “crucio”. At first she wanted to run but something (probably stupidity) kept her from doing so. Instead she moved towards the voice, hoping to find out what was going on. If some death eater was torturing some poor muggle or muggleborn …. maybe she could help. Milagros was decent at DADA but she wasn’t an auror or anything close to the skill level as those in the Order. But just maybe her skills would be enough to save a life. Though… she knew if the death eater saw her… it was cause her problems. Milagros was famous after all and the death eaters back home used her to help sell their propaganda… though what she didn’t realize was that she put in her own Order propaganda in her lyrics. It was in such a way that only Order Supporters would ever catch on. If something should happen, any other witch would have to kill the death eater in order to leave without consequences. However, Milagros wasn’t an ordinary witch. She was an expert at charms and her speciality was memory charms. She easily able to erase or replace a person’s memory if need be.

As soon as she walked through the intruder charm, she knew what she had done… even before she heard a man call to her to show herself. When you were as knowledgeable with charms as she was … you could almost sense a charm… like a 6th sense. Of course she wouldn’t be able to know for sure what it was but she swore they were almost tangible to her. Milagros counted to ten in her head as she caught her breath. She was rather nervous to come face to face with whoever was waiting for her.

Milagros took out her wand. ”Are you a death eater?” She called back to the man right after she stepped out to where he could see her. Her mind was already formulating escape plans. Milagros was shaking ever so slightly. It might have been because the breeze was bit chilly… or more likely than not she was scared to the core about all the horrible ways this encounter could go wrong. She was wearing black heels, high waisted jeans and a vintage blouse. Milagros looked far from threatening. Milagros moved her eyes from the old man to see another who appeared to be chained to a pillar. ”Who is that?” She said motioning to the man. She tried to make her voice seem rougher and tougher but she wasn’t sure if she was doing a very good job. ”I demand you let that man free! Why is he chained like?
