this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos considered Albus' honesty and smiled slightly, "I don't regret it either." And he wouldn't, not for a second. It was wrong to do, there were reasons on reasons why they shouldn't even be talking right now. But the one reason that Amos felt was enough to put paint to the others.
"Or meeting at all." Amos heard himself tease almost, but tried to brush this away. That wasn't fair to say. Even if it was a joke. Oddly, Amos wasn't the type to even tease in any sense of the word. But Albus brought out a different side of him. "but it seems fate has a sense of humor." amos smiled in spite of everything. Because that could very well be the reason they kept being thrown together. Amos considered standing and walking over, to ask if he wanted to go somewhere more private. That they could talk, sit closer to eachother. instead he took his drink and nodded to the man who made his heart beat increase without any effort.
Without much thinking, Amos stood up, taking his glass and moving towards the back of the bar, a small booth that he could talk to Albus more, if he so choose to come over. Amos is still thoroughly private about his love life, and what he finds attractive for a lot of reasons.

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight She turned to him and he could feel her eyes, so a small smile spread on his face before it was removed by a swing of alcohol. He tilted his head in acknowledgement. "I might just have one of those faces." He smiled slightly, half smiling but looking at her nonetheless. She had technically engaged first. He took
He smirked, meeting her eyes before finally answering her question, "Amos." Then he scanned her face before speaking again. "What about you?" She looked like a weasley, in fact he knew who she was, but that didn't mean he had to. Better to stick to first names anyway. As fun as it would be to scare off some little redhead, he wanted to let this go on as long as it did. He was in need of entertainment and she was going to be the first course. Besides, who knows what he could find out.
He took yet another deep breath, "What brings you to the bottle?" He asked, his voice low and rumbling- yet cutting through the atmosphere easily. | @open words; xxx notes; blerp |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos waited for the girl to leave. Ignoring Waters for the time being. He stood there with no real way of leaving, his knee was in no position to take him any far length. He saw her leave, watching hervery closely. He did hope she'd make it out. Though it was stupid that one of the men didn't go with her. He would tell them so, but that would
He stood there with two wands pointed at him and pointed his in the air. It would be stupid to fight two duelers and Amos didn't have the drive that the other Death eaters did. This was an assignment and nothing else. Told to go in and kill infected patients and cause mayhem as they assigned yet another death eater leader at the head of the hospital, just as hogwarts was taken over, and the ministry. It didn't matter that the individual would die because there were more than the order. Amos knew they would start refusing peoples entries because of their blood and everything. What the death eaters weren't considering is that people would leave. Population would dwindle. And nobody would care.
"Malfoy, right?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. It'd been a while since he saw the young "traitor", Water's threats meant very little to him. He was a terrified man for his family, as he should be. There was a lot to be said about family, something Amos may not understand as well as other people. "Been a while." He smirked slightly before slowly turning to Arik. "Who do you suppose? You know your enemies more than I do." Amos raised an eyebrow before shrugging, "All I know is that I recieved a newspaper on my desk and was told to look into it." He spoke simply, shrugging his shoulders. | @open words; xxx notes; so outnumbered |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos let out a breath, and somehow Albus brought out the honesty in him. "Thinking about someone... more than I should." It didn't matter how much power Amos may have in the death eaters, in his family, or at his job- he still would never really feel free to be himself and make the choices he wanted to. Choices that he may not even know yet, but that he knew he wouldn't be able to decide. Amos raised an eyebrow, "It's an awfully interesting spot we've gotten ourselves into." He spoke again, meeting his eyes.
Now Albus was even looking at him, and Amos could tell. There was a small prickling feeling on the back of his neck when Amos met his eyes. Damn this. They were too far apart and all together too close. Would they ever find peace or would there be a constant pressure on them. Because Amos knew that they didn't have a chance so any movement towards him would be a problem, but any step away would injure Amos more. There was no way in hell he could have a secret relationship with a Potter. Or anyone for that matter, he was engaged and while it may not be happily so or even in the realm of a real relationship, Amos had to be fair to him.
He was in for trouble when he decided to respond. "Is there something I could do? " he asked, though doubted it. His type has undoubtedly done enough to the Potters, and will continue doing so. Amos wasn't an Auror, he wasn't the one responsible for tracking Albus down. But there was someone that was, and maybe Amos could deter them. But why? Because he'd grown to care for the man? After one ... really meaningful night and one exchange of letters. It didn't mean anything. At least to an outsider or someone determined to be colder than he was. | words; xxx notes <3 |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos didn't get knocked out. He had his wits about him, which was really the only important thing to him. But as he watched Arik Waters, who was rumored to be a ghost at this point, begin the safety charms, Amos reached for his wand and helped himself to a standing position. His knee was out of it, there was a sharp pain rippling through his body but he didn't care. This was life or death and apparently information that he had to give his boss when he saw her next. Assuming, of course, she made it out of the battle alive also. Which was yet to be determined.
But he heard a small voice from the woman. He didn't recognize her and regardless he didn't care. Amos heard what she had to say. and his jaw clenched. He looked to the old man as he focused on the big bad death eater.
Crucio. There it was. Amos deflected it with ease. There were some people that lived and breathed that curse, and only those were the type that couldn't be deflected. "Old and cruel," The Lestrange scoffed slightly, though otherwise maintaining his composure. "You know, I think somebody is looking for you." He said. The man had years of experience on Amos, and Amos didn't have the normal dexterity. But he felt weird holding his wand in his hand. He was a good fighter but he wasn't a religious one. He preferred to be the intellectual, and he despised fighting for this cause. He wanted to do things on his own terms- entirely independent of him.
Amos blocked again the spells from the woman. "Go." he barked to her, "Get out." His eyes were on fire, irritated at the sudden events. He wouldn't hurt her, she needed to leave before somebody did, and he was sure that they would. He didn't give a damn who she was or correlated to, she needed to get to safety. His eyes returned to the old man, "get her out of here." Amos looked over, finally spotting the Malfoy. Ah, good. he was surrounded. "And if you'd really like to fight me, I can even wait here and we can fight until our testosterone hearts demand us to." But she had to be gone first. | @open words; xxx notes; blerp |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos watched the crowd when a redhead entered. He knew her by the immediate look. Daughter of two of the gold trio and hardly a target... yet. She was surprisingly let to work at the school, much to the professor's dismay. Suppose it kept numbers up, and it was always welcome to Amos to allow purebloods to switch sides. Amos wasn't his father, however, and actually didn't much give a damn about the war. He was far too invested on his own head to care about what went on outside of it. Though as the Lestrange took another drink he moved over, sitting down next to her. "Another whiskey." He breathed, watching the bartender carefully.
He wasn't going to hit on this girl. No way. He had no interest in the redhead. But instead the contact she had. Soemone who they had in common, even though the weasley didn't know it. There was something about as soon as Amos took a drink of alcohol that a member of the potter or weasley clan walked into his midst. But he didnt' care. She wouldn't know his identity, he flew below the radar, his sister was the face of the lestrange clan, and he had no fucking interest in being a political smiler. He liked his brain, he liked reading over interacting with people any day. | @open words; xxx notes; blerp |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos considered her question, taking a drink and thinking about the girl who was undoubtedly at home waiting on him. "Probably wouldn't be thrilled." He shrugged a half grin etching its way on his face. Making the lips of the man even more intoxicating, "But there's a lot of that going around in arranged marriages." Being less than happy was sort of the deal. Very few people were happy in their engagements. And while Amos wasn't technically arranged with his fiance, he might as well have been. They both were happily content with each other, but there was no passion, no drive to live together forever. Even though both would survive the ride, they wouldn't enjoy it as they should have.
Still, Amos figured it'd be far too much baggage for the girl and she'd find some other man to hit on during this interesting conversation. Amos had to admit, he hadn't been hit on for a while and it was different than he remembered. So, he decided to enjoy the conversation, she was very lovely and he hasn't had a pleasant conversation in a while. He figured he might try to change that. "What about you? No fiance, I see." he spoke simply, nodding to left hand of the woman. But he was the type to look for such things.

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight When Amos looked at her, she didn't look away. He thought her entirely ballsy, it impressed him, actually. Amos smiled to himself and looked away. She certainly seemed very interested in pursuing this. Her eye contact burned into him, it was fascinating to him.
"Doesn't bother me." He smirked, his voice low and calculating. She was very pleasant to look at. In another time, he would have gotten in trouble with her, but he hardly cared about that now. Fuckable as she undoubtedly was, Amos knew the next thing out of his mouth would dissuade her from pursuing him. "My fiancee might have a few qualms about it, however." A smirk grew over his lips, waiting for her reaction. He knew the nature of Addie, and she was certainly the jealous type. They actually looked fairly alike.
Another might have played coy, flirting it up, waiting for the latest possible time to announce that he was taken.. well technically taken. But Amos was too blunt for that, he wasn't good at flirting, and took life very seriously. So as attractive as she was, she'd need to be very interested to persuade him otherwise. Amos watched her carefully, "You are more than welcome to sit, I do enjoy beautiful company." Give her a bit, not that anything was going to happen, Amos was far too in control of himself.

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos walked into the three broomsticks. He'd had an errand to run in a nearby village for his job, and thought he might as well stop by. He did have a few friends at Hogwarts teaching, and because of that, he figured he may run into them. Besides, the Lestrange found he needed a good breather from work and other matters that he would certainly not get into. He stepped up to the bar ordering a whiskey but remained standing. He preferred it that way, particularly with the pub so busy, and busy for him was over ten people. He watched a few students go by and rolled his eyes, finding himself disinterested with anyone under the age of twenty years old.
Taking the whiskey he sat down at a the bar, off to the side to keep himself out of the way of people he may want to curse later. But it seemed silly for him to take a table for only one.Even if it meant more isolation for him and his nerves. Amos felt distinctly that there was someone watching him, which happened often, as he was a lestrange and usually stuck out like a sore thumb, but he glanced over the faces and his eyes met someone else's long enough to raise an eyebrow. Whether it be threatening or intriguing, Amos didn't know, people interpreted his actions in whichever way they want to. Though, as he looked away to take a sip of his drink, he wondered if this woman knew him somehow, or if she didn't. And he wasn't sure which he preferred. | words; xxx notes <3 |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight How've you been? That question made Amos look at him, a bit taken aback. Now he was asking how he was? As though there was nothing weird about the situation. But there was, there had to be. Amos felt as though he wanted to respond normally. "All due respect, Albus..." he started quietly, "Not that great."His voice was low and it was the first time he said that name aloud. He liked it... actually a lot. It rolled off his tongue like it was meant to. But there was some kindness in the heart of the man he was talking to that made Amos, who was seriously considering leaving then, that he should stay.
Turning in his stool, Amos looked at him square in the face. "How about you?" He knew this would be a bad move, the strong features on Albus' face was enough to make Amos vulnerable to the situation- but he didn't care. Amos asked this though, with no politeness, instead he genuinely wanted to know. And there were very few instances in his life that Amos was genuine. He lied as his job, his head held too many secrets to count. So he wasn't the type to beat around a bush. He was the type to accept things as they are and tell them as such. Because one person can only take so much secrecy. And Amos was way past his fill. He put a new drink to his lips, the tail end of the dark mark slipping into view as the glass touched his mouth, before he placed it back down on the counter. | words; xxx notes <3 |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos didn't need to look up to see who came into the bar. Instead, he felt something. A sense of stress building up in his gut. Like adrenaline was pulsing through his veins but not in a negative way. Like he could do things he didn't want to, without consequences. but that was this place for him. He didn't want to push it. Without looking up from his glass, Amos spoke lowly. "What are you doing here?" It was the voice of a man at the end of his wits. A tired eyed unspeakable sat there, only feet away from someone he knew was the center of his world without his consent. God damned it. Why was he here?
Amos finished his drink, still glaring a single spot on the bar in front of him. This couldn't be real. But from the corner of his eye, he saw him- and Amos knew it to be true. Albus... was just as handsome as he remembered. Quickly looking away he ordered another drink, figuring this would be the last and then he'd leave. He'd be gone. This was too coincidental for him, something would happen, go wrong. The universe doesn't work like this. It shouldn't. Amos looked away, running a hand through his hair. One thing was for sure, he couldn't think straight even at this distance. | words; xxx notes <3 |

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Amos was struggling with the events of the world. He knew what would happen if he came home late again. He knew that his fiance would throw a fit, cry that he was cheating on her. But Amos didn't feel like going home. Ever since the letter, and it hadn't even been so long since he sent it, Amos couldn't think about anything else. Not even his job, and that was crazy enough for him. The workaholic thought only of his job and schooling since he was able to read. But he looked around the dark bar that he met Albus. He didn't think he'd come, he didn't know what would happen. He just needed a goddamned drink and this was his favorite place to do so, for obvious reasons.
Plopping down at the bar, Amos went through four glasses of some pretty high-proof scotch before he was drunk enough to even eat the peanuts that were set in front of him. He took to the hobby of staring down in to his glass as the bartender talked at him for a while. Amos wasn't interested, but he allowed him to talk, giving him more secrets that he would ad to his collection. He ran a hand through his hair, looking up and downing the rest of his drink, holding it out for another.

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight The paper was ready to send. And while he hold it in his hand, Amos still wasn't sure. He had to send it, Albus had a right to know who he was. But now Albus would have something on him, and Amos both was scared about this... and accepting of it. Amos would keep Albus' location hidden and the other man would have in writing and context that Amos Lestrange had an affair with a man. A secret that had been kept so well for twenty something years. Since Amos knew that, when he actually felt, he felt the same for women as men.
But he read through the letter and, despite his best efforts not to, smiled to himself, the way he was feeling was excellently interpreted by the other man. He felt the same, that how could a Potter get over the actions of his family on a battle field. There was nothing that could outweigh the fact that Amos could potentially be the one behind a family member's murder.
My name is Amos Lestrange. And I suppose it depends on how you define the upper hand. We both have information on each other that could evoke fear. And while I am not entirely afraid, now that you know my name, there's not much holding you here. You can run away from what I've done in the past, and my family's actions as well. I couldn't kill you either.
I ask about tea, because one day I hope that we can get some together. But I understand if that is not the case.
The lestrange sent out the letter and returned to his seat, glancing at the door. He was having an emotional affair. But this time it was the first time he felt like this, so is it really an affair on an equivalent emotion?

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Sending away the letter had to be right. Correct? He had to navigate his mind, figure out if that's what he wanted to say. Or how he was going to start to compartmentalize his brain to keep this hidden. What was more important in this situation? His mind? Or that annoying tingling feeling in his stomach that he was almost certain was his gag reflex.
Officially? Yes, I want you dead. Personally, not in the slightest. Though I can't get caught saying things like that or I'll be undesirable number one.
Was that the wrong thing to say? Probably, Amos couldn't help but find the situation slightly humorous. Surely there was no way of preparing for this sort of thing in life. Besides, there was a word for serendipity for these exact moments. He continued writing though didn't quite answer his name yet. Perhaps he was working up the nerve. Albus left a note at the end about tea and Amos couldn't help but like that he
I assume that means you like strong.
Amos wrote it and while he couldn't help but feel a smirk on his lips, he knew the man might not take it the way that his mind had automatically tied it to.
Here's my dilemma. There's a lengthy list of reasons we shouldnt' speak. I'm certain you've realized this before. But you knowing my name is a sure way of never hearing from you again.
That response would do for now, he supposed. Not Ideal, but doable. And even as he sent off the letter, Amos picked up the quill and wrote on the piece of paper, "I am Amos Lestrange." It was just writing his name in this context. There wasn't the pressure, perhaps that was what he needed to do in order to get the nerve to send it back.

this ain't over , love in the middle of a firefight Still, even after all of that. He still paced the floor, waiting on the owl. Even if the owl would be without letter, Amos didn't care. He told himself that anyway. Still, he paced, staring at the window as he did and then forced his gaze away. Amos shouldn't care this much. And was it technically cheating? Fuck, he didn't know. There was nothing in the letter to suspect anything, and even as the parchment stacked on his desk, Amos felt uneasy. Without another thought he waved a hand over the pieces of paper, eyes alight with the fire that began eating away at them. He read them enough to memorize them anyways, but even burning them felt wrong- in a different way that keeping them did.
He sat down at his desk, figuring he'd hear nothing ever again. Amos picked up a quill and paused when he heard a tapping at the window. Standing up, Amos moved towards the window and felt his heart leap, with a bit more of excitement than he usually allowed himself to show, amos opened the letter, reading it ferociously. Pulling out another sheet of parchment, Amos took a deep breath and started writing.
A, Believe me, there's fear on both sides.
Amos had started the letter and felt very strange about saying that. He was too vulnerable by saying that. He was stupid, impulsive. It wasn't a good idea. Amos let out a breath and continued writing against his better judgement.
but still, I am sorry things are so difficult for you. I wish I could help.
Do you drink tea at all?
He would never hear back from Albus if he even considered putting his name. And while that would be good, Amos couldn't help but feel like he wanted to let the man know all. Put all the information on the table and allow him to decide. Until that happened, there was no hope that anything could happen. Not that there should be. But the words on the end of the letter made Amos pause.
I would tell you my name, but I have a sinking feeling you won't like it.
Well, at least that was true.
