For A Moment I Believed You Loved Me Too
Scorpius had come to Diagon Alley for one reason, he had to buy more owl food. He had several owls. Several of which he used to send secret messages when he needed to… that way if a death eater ever found them, they wouldn’t know it was his. All his owls seemed to be constantly hungry and so he decided that it would be best to buy the largest bag possible. Scorpius had the huge sack balancing on his shoulder as he made his way towards the Leaky Cauldron. He made it look effortless and completely natural. The guy was well built. As he was passing by Ollivanders he of course couldn’t resist sneaking a peak in the window to see if Lily Luna Potter was there. He was pleasantly surprised when he realized she was inside. A good part of him thought it would be best to keep walking. He didn’t want to bother Lily… didn’t want to put a target on her back by association… but he couldn’t just walk by. He tried but couldn’t go through with it. Scorpius quietly opened the door and looked at his feet scratching his nose - trying not to look suspicious or overly eager to be there. When he looked up he caught her eye. He smiled and in his charming, teasing way said ”Hey Potter”

Work. That was what Lily was focused on nowadays. People came in everyday for a wand or a repair especially since things went dark. Many people didn’t like the fact that they had to ask a Potter for help, but she was the closest person around and people had to admit, she knew what she was doing. The redhead whittled a little more wood off the wand she just created before dipping a brush into some gold paint. It was an experimental wand. Blackwood with a holly handle, mermaid scale, eleven inches. She wanted to know what mermaid scale would do and combining two woods. The girl finished her décor before setting the wand on a stand allowing it to dry. The girl got up and left the back room. She went into the main part of the shop. The girl picked up a few boxes of wands and placed them in their correct spaces when the door opened. The young woman waited a moment before she heard her last name and a familiar voice. The girl’s head popped up and she smiled. “It’s Mr. Big Bad Malfoy.” The girl rounded the corner of the counter and gave him a large hug.

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Scorpius couldn’t help but smile back when he saw Lily smiling at him. Her smile was always contagious. It was always seemed to light up her whole face, the whole room even. Everything was better when Lily was around. He watched as she rounded a corner as she called him ‘Mr. Big Bad Malfoy’. He laughed. It sounded like what most people thought of him whenever he showed his face. She gave him a big hug. Her hugs were always something he looked forward to. Scorpius gave her a firm hug back. He didn’t really want to let go, but he did… he didn’t want to come off Mr. Malfoy the Creep.
When he let go of her, his hand automatically went back into the pockets of his leather jacket. He was known for talking with his hands in his pockets. Scorpius walked around the little shop, casually checking everything out. ”So what ya been up Potter? What are you working on right now? You always look like you’re really into your work… Not that I often see you at work… but you know what I mean… I know you….It’s good though. You have passion, you know. There are a lot of people who could use a bit more of that” Scorpius laughed quietly at himself. He realized that sometimes he talked a bit more when he was nervous. It had actually been a while since he'd seen Lily. She was just so beautiful and amazing... he didn't want to mess anything up.

Scorpus returned the hug and Lily went back around the counter and took a seat on her bar stool. The girl folded her hands in her lap and allowed Scorpius to ramble on. He asked her a couple of questions and then his observation. The only time she was ever seriously into her work was while she sat in here. So she did know what he meant. Lily sighed a bit, not really in unhappiness just in the familiarity he brought her. “I’ve been up to the same usually stuff I do. Work, home, more work, practice.” She shrugged her shoulders and waited a moment. “As for what I’m working on, come take a look.” The girl suggested before getting up and signaling Scorpius to follow her.
Lily led him through the isles of wands before opening the door to the back room. She turned on a light and lightly dabbed the paint of her new wand. Satisfied, the girl picked up the wand and handed him the handle. “Don’t know if it’ll work to be honest. I’ve been experimenting lately. Mermaid Scale, holly and blackwood, eleven inches.” The girl grinned. “I just need to test it out now!” That was the dangerous part who knew what the wand was capable of. The girl waited for him to take the wand. “You’ll be the first to touch it outside the creator, who knows what would happen.” Lily winked at him, of course knew what to do if things went bad, like they often did.
"Give it a go." she said excitedly.

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Scorpius loved that Lily seemed eager to show him what she’d been working on. He didn’t hesitate to follow through the isles of wands and into the back room. The room had been pitch black. When Lil turned on the light it took him a second to adjust. He listened closely as she described the details of the wand she had made. ”Wow Potter. I’m impressed. I can’t believe you know how to make one these.” She was learning really quickly. He imagined it wouldn’t be long before she was the next famed wand maker.
She told him the wand needed to be tested out and that he’d be the first besides herself to touch it. Scorpius laughed, ”Lil, are you serious? That’s incredible, and I’m honored.” Lily winked at him and he reached to grab the wand. Just before he touched he paused to ask ”What’s the likelihood I’ll need you to nurse me back to health after this?” he was mostly joking but he couldn’t help but be partially curious about how many she had made and how many had ended up going horribly wrong. Scorpius trusted her and he was afraid of pain so he took it carefully.
Lil told him to give it a go and so he did. He put a firm grip to it and waved it gently as he pointed at a box in the corner. The box levitated quite nicely into the air. ”Nice work Potter. Seems to work perf-“ but before he could finish his sentence the box exploded and packing peanuts blasted all over the room. He cautiously set the wand back down where Lily had grabbed it from. ”Almost there… just a little tweaking and I’m sure it’ll be excellent” he said reassuringly, hoping he wouldn’t hurt her feelings.

Lily scoffed. “You can’t believe I can make one of these?” She bumped his shoulder lightly. “I’ve been making them since the end of my first year working her.” The girl beamed, “No social life, no love life, just work!” The girl said seeing no problem in the matter. The red head just loved what she was doing and because of it, she had many wands at home that worked for her and only her. Lily was definitely equipped with the brains and talent for this sort of thing. She just absolutely loved it. She couldn’t ask for a better job. She got to play with wandlore, magic and art. It was the best package. And she was never embarrassed to show her work. She did a great job after all, it kept her Death Eater enemies at bay, that was for sure. Lily looked at him, “Good.” She grinned. “So the black wood is from Australia, it’s great for potion making and summoning charms. Lots of Hufflepuffs tend to buy this kind. As for the holly, bad for hexes and curse but brilliant against dark magic! I’ve sold the holly wands to most Gryffindors lately.” She nodded giving him more back ground.
“As for the mermaid scale. Or hair. Is a bit of temperamental sort of core, and very rare. Lucky enough, there is a merperson who was quite fond of my father and doesn’t mind supplying me. Perfect for Herbology or Potions, favors water based spells. Since it’s a mermaid I received it from, it’ll work better for a woman.” She nodded. “Eleven inches is more someone that leans toward more of a Ministry future and it’s also inflexible, meaning, it’s super powerful but makes it difficult to master a spell.” She nodded. Lily raised an eyebrow at the comment about nursing him back to health. “Trust me.” She told him before Scorpius took the wand and wave it. She watched the box float and then explode. The girl cheered and clapped her hands together. “Perfect!” the girl looked at him. “No more tweaking. This wand is made more for a woman, most likely a potioneer destined for Mungos or a female Auror for the Ministry.” She nodded taking the wand from him and putting it into a box. “It would have never worked for you Score.” She wrote a incredibly high price on the box and out it on a shelf. “Wands pick their masters. Not every wand with aid you.” Lily told him in all honesty.

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Lily scoffed at his comment about not believing she could make a wand. She was only teasing him though. Lily knew what Scorpius meant. He was just in awe. He didn’t have the slightest idea on how wands were made. It was completely out of his realm of understanding. Lil then went on to say that all she did was work and so she had no social or love life. Scorpius bumped her back - shoulder to shoulder. ”Now whose fault is that Potter?” he teased her back.
Lily explained to him about the wood it was created from and what it was good for. It also seemed she had been keeping tabs about who was buying the different kinds of wands. He couldn’t help but think it was a lot to remember. Lily was always much smarter than most. She had a quick mind and was probably a pro at trivia. It was something he always admired about her… how shamelessly smart she was. In that way she reminded him of her aunt Hermione. Scorpius didn’t exactly know the woman that well.. but from he did know of her and his few interactions… the lady was a bonafide genius. Sharp as a whip. Lily wasn’t exactly related to her by blood but Scorpius was sure Hermione had been a positive role model for Lily.
Lily continued to explain about wand cores. She told him about a merperson who was fond of her father - the forever famous - Boy Who Lived - The Chosen One. There were many people and creatures that had become fond of the great Harry Potter over the years. It didn’t surprise him one bit that there was a merperson eager to share her scales with his family.
Lily told him to trust her and of course he did. He always had and always would. Lily Potter could do no wrong in his eyes. After the box exploded and he lightly suggested tweaking it, Lily told him it was him not the wand that had caused the explosion. ”Always so brutally honest, aren’t you Potter?” he said playfully. ”So basically your wand hates me because I’m a man… now, that’s not very becoming of it.” He joked. Scorpius took out his wand. ”I bet you can easily tell what my wand is just by looking at it… but what I want to know is… what does my wand say about me?” He handed her his wand. Wizards rarely seemed to trust anyone to handle their wands… but Scorpius always trusted Lil. ”It’s like the wands are talking to you. You’re like the wand whisperer”

Lily smirked. “Hey, never said anyone is at fault.” The girl bumped his shoulder back. Lily was pretty content. Was she overly happy? Only when one of her wands were picked or one wand was finished. But companionship was never her biggest priority. Not to mention, she didn’t really have a list of people she’d want to chose from. It was too dangerous just dating strangers and well, dating friends were tricky. Actually dating in general during this time was complicated. Yet, Lily didn’t dwell too much on it. Like stated before, she was content and content was great during this era.
Lily was bound to become Old Mr Ollivander one day. She had an amazing memory and something she is completely focused on, it wasn’t hard to remember. That and she wrote it down in her book of wands. She’d write down the wand she created, the name it belonged to and then stored it. It was mostly incase it ever came back in for help. Who knew how long her memory would last. But that was another thing she didn’t dwell on.
The girl took out her wand and gave it a wand. The fire and smoke was gone, but the box was hopeless. She picked it up and tossed it into the trash bin next to the desk she worked at. “Always. Can’t except me to baby you.” She gave a shrug of her shoulders. Lily mostly said what she thought or what was fact. She never paid attention if it was brutal or not. But in this case, Scorpius was jut teasing her, so she teased him back. Lily raised her eyebrows at him. Becoming of it. “So if I had a thing for only guys, does that make me not very becoming?” she challenged him. It was a fair question to his comment.
Then Scorpius had a challenge for her. Lily took a seat in her chair and took his wand. The girl ran a hand over it, her eyes frowned a bit. “Should I be brutally honest?” Lily smirked at him before looking back at the wand. She held it in her finger tips and observed it. Before giving it a wave. A box popped off it’s place. Lily gave him a look after he made his last comment and giggled a bit.
“Well, you’re wand is made out of a not so common wood.” Lily placed it on the desk and let it roll. “Texture, color and weight says this is from Africa, Acacia. But since it isn’t a wand pass down means this piece of wood actually came from Europe itself.” She sat back and folded her arms. “That wood, well, it’s a difficult sort to use, meaning, most wands made out it tend to be rigid, inflexible, sturdy or supple.” She picked up his wand again and flexed it by holding each end of it. “Supple. Means, you probably had more trouble learning a spell than someone with a flexible wand. So, if you can master a spell with this wand, means you’re talented. And stubborn, but determined and ambitious.” She put the wand back down.
“Scorpius, you have a lot to prove. Tricky wand wood and dragon heartstring?” the girl folded her hands on her lap. “Dragon heartstring produces power, also very flashy wand work.” She winked at him before continuing on. “But, it levels the playing field since it’s a core that can be easily used. Temperamental though. Funny enough.” Lily shrugged and picked up her measuring tape. “Interestingly enough, knowing your family history and the way you grew up, the core is perfect. It doesn’t have an affinity for light magic or dark magic, it can adapt to either.” She looked at Scorpius, “A boy, born to a pureblood family, filled with dark arts but eventually found a spot in the good. Not exactly siding with them, but not exactly siding with us. For the most part, neutral, but can go any way.” She knew he was trying to keep his social standing incriminating. Lily Potter was not dumb. The strawberry blonde took the tape and measured the wand on her desk. “Did you know wandlore could be linked to divination, a prediction of who the holder could become. You can use tarots to figure out what the lengths mean. More symbolism than anything, but some times, it fits.” She handed him his wand. “Eleven, the card of Justice, One, the card of The Magician, Four, the card of the Emperor. Want to know what the cards mean?” she titled her head looking at him curiously.

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Teasing Lily was always fun, but it was always more fun when she played along. Whenever she gave him that smirk of her’s or when they rubbed shoulders he could feel the electricity between them. Or at least the electricity on his part. Everything just felt so natural when he was with her. But maybe that was a bad thing… maybe their relationship should be harder… more stretched and torn. Maybe then, Lily would really notice him, the way he noticed her.
Lily could be a real talker at times. Scorpius didn’t mind it though. He could listen to her read a telephone book and he’d be fine with it. He just loved being with her and she could make anything interesting… even his wand. She told him his wand wood was uncommon. He liked the sound of that. He liked to think of himself as different. Well he knew he was. He’d always been different. Or at least unexpected. At first she told him that he probably had trouble learning spells with his wand. He did at times. The wand often seemed to have a mind of it’s own. But the way she said it made him sound like a really lame wizard. But then, she switched gears and made it into a compliment by saying if he could master spells with his wand it meant he was really talented it. Scorpius smiled. He liked the sound of that a lot more. Then she called him stubborn and he couldn’t help but laugh. There was that honesty streak of her’s.
Lily told him he has a lot to prove. Or maybe it was a question. Either way, she was right. His whole life he had been trying to prove himself to someone. Whether it was to his grandparents, or his mother, then his classmates and now the Order or the Death Eaters. Whatever he was, was never enough for anyone. It was never what they wanted him to be. It was a constant struggle. A constant burden to bear. She then told him that his wand work was flashy and winked. Scorpius said ”I don’t think you know how flashy my wand can be” he said winking back and adding to the innuendo going on.
Then she told him his core did have an affinity to light or dark magic. That it could adapt to either. She straight out called him neutral. He wasn’t so sure if she was making a comment about his outward appearance because of the person he had to be around the death eaters… or if she truly thought he was neutral at heart. Either way it stung a bit. What if she truly thought he was walking the line just to stay out of the fire. He really hoped that wasn’t the case. He tried not to show it on his face. Maybe he read her wrong at that moment. He didn’t want to make a big deal about it. Maybe one day she would know just how deep he’d go and has gone for the sake of the Order and for the good it stands for.
She gave him back his wand. He took it, sticking it back in his pocket. Lily told him about wand lore being linked to divination. ”I’ve never heard that before” he said amused. She asked him if he wanted to know what the cards meant ”Yeah. Lay it on me.” he told her. He was rather curious. Even if he wasn’t, he never would’ve been able to say know to that smile.

JUST FOR A MOMENT 942 WORDS black pants, blue shirt, white blazer, black boots okay i promise that was the last long post... |
Her green eyes lingered on Scorpius for a moment. It was amazing that they could just be a bit childish when all hell was breaking loose. It was a small moment. She felt slightly more than just content. It made her a bit curious. Lily looked away from him and back at her main focus, wands.
Lily would glance up every now and then when she spoke. She wanted to see his reaction to the words she spoke. She was giving him a lot of information, maybe some that he wasn’t comfortable hearing. But in the end, her asked and Lily was answering. There was a smile. He was a bit nonchalant until he heard the fact that mastering a spell with his wand meant talent. Lily had managed to give him an ego boost. Lily smiled lightly over her words. Scorpius had a nice smile. It wasn’t his smile he normally gave her when they teased each other. And it wasn’t the smile he gave to anyone. It was a smile that showed her was proud of the comment. Or at least, that was what she was understanding. Reading wands were one thing, reading people? More complicated.
He laughed at her calling him stubborn, but in all honesty, that was a trait she knew to be true in Scorpius. It was trait they shared with each other. Nether could give up on something they thought enough about.
Lily started it. She sometimes never knew how to control it. She just said the first thing that would come to mind, or at least give body language without thinking it through. For heaven’s sake, she just flirted with her childhood friend. It wasn’t an odd thing for Lily, but it was Scorpius… That fact seemed to make it different. Lily smirked at him. She may have started it, but he didn’t finish it. Lily couldn’t help it. Her green eyes trailed him up and down, twirling the stick like object in her hand. She then spoke again. “Well then, maybe you should show me sometime.” It was out of her mouth before her thoughts could catch up. “Then I’ll know.” Lily raised an eyebrow at him before drawing her attention back to his wand… the one he brought from Ollivanders years ago.
Scorpius expression didn’t change, the room felt smaller some how. What she said was serious. The core could go either way. And so could Scorpius. Lily knew where he stood. At least she had an understanding of what he was doing. But he was in with the Death Eaters too, sort of. Who knew what influences would attach to her friend.
She smiled, “Numbers are powerful Mr. Malfoy. Just like words and stars and magic.” She told him. Who knew if it was right, it was just loosely connected, but it was fun any way. “The card of Justice. Means, impartial, dstant, cold, objective, clever, critical, insensivite, decisive, intelligent, analytical, realist, sense of responsibility, rational, has a clear vision, logic and reason.” That was the first card. Eleven. Or at least was describes it. “So you have a goal, one that you will not change your mind on because in you, you know it to be right in every sense of the word.” she then muttered stubborn and gave him a teasing grin. “Next would be The Magician.” She wiggled her eyebrows at him, “You have a conscious, which means you're no bad guy. Action driven. Centered concentration, a personal power, practical. Creative, energetic, precise. You have conviction. Manipulative, self confident.” Lily rolled her eyes at him, teasing him once more. “Focused, objective, determined. “ The girl waited a moment. “So you have a goal you are immovable on, but you won’t sit back on it. You are going to act on it and work on it. And you are going to use every ounce of yourself and not back down, no matter the need to achieve it.” It was a pretty general reading. Lily did well in divination. She knew enough to trick a muggle and word a phrase to apply to everyone, but the more she thought about the words she said, and pictured Scorpius, she found herself believing in her theory. “And last, four. The emperor.” The girl ranked through her mind for that one. “You are fatherly.” Lily gave Scorpius a look, “stable, holds authority, power, control. You have discipline, command and common sense, a status quo too. There is order, structure, organized, egocentric!” Lily went off in a fit a giggles. “Okay that one has! To be true.” She covered her mouth and looked at Scorpius amused. “A bit rigid, someone for tradition. Leadership is in there oh and the word experience comes to mind.” Another wink was thrown his way. “Inflexible and conservative.”
“Scorpius Malfoy. You have a goal. A goal you feel strongly about. This goal is truer to you than the sky is blue. This is a goal your willing to act on, something that takes time and care. You won’t back down from it and you won’t change your mind, no matter what. You have a plan. It may be a cliché plan, but you have one and you are already acting on it. You don’t care what it will take, but you will finish it. Or at least die trying…” Lily stood up and looked around her work place. Magic and numbers were an incredible thing. Who knew what she said was true. If it were, she learned a lot more about the boy in one sitting starting at a piece of wood than speaking to him through the years. Lily looked at Scorpius, “How’d I do?”

Scorp smiled when Lily continued to flirt a bit with him. It was something he wouldn’t expect her to do. He never thought she’d ever be even slightly attracted to him. He had feelings for her for the longest time but never imagined the possibility that she could have any feelings for him. ”Maybe sometime I will” he said as he raised his hand and gently played with a piece of her hair. Scorp really wanted to kiss her… but he didn’t want to throw himself at her. Maybe it was nothing but a harmless flirt.. something he should take lightly. He let go of her hair but his pupils were still dilated as he was still entranced by her.
Lily began to explain how cores and divinations were connected as she began to read him. She told him he had a goal. Which he did. He wanted to prove himself and save the world. However, the only goal on his mind right now was kissing Lily Luna Potter. ”I would agree” he commented at that as she gave him a teasing grin.
Next was the magician card. She told him he would act on his goal. His goal to kiss her? He had to resist. And he did. He simply laughed and added, ”I think I should be more manipulative, actually. I think it could have it’s benefits” he teased.
The final card was the emperor. Fatherly was the main word there. ”well… I am in charge of a bunch of hormonal teenagers all day… every day.” he laughed. She gave him a wink as she told him he was inflexible and conservative. ”that pretty much sums me up” he joked.
Lily then summarized the reading she gave and he nodded. He moved closer to her as she stood up. She looked at him to ask how she did. This was his chance to act on his goal… or die trying. She was so beautiful and in the last few minutes he felt so close to her, he could feel their flirtatious tension in the air like it was something tangible, something he could hold in his hands. He gently grabbed her by the waist and as his voice softened ”I think I should go with my cliche plan…” his voice was nothing but a whisper in her ear ”Or die trying I guess” . He pulled her closer and kissed her.
He then slowly opened his eyes, let go of her and moved a feet or so back. What did he do. He looked at her with curious eyes to see how she would react.

And so, Lily and Scorpius passed a line they never dared walk. The redhead flirted with him and he flirted back. It continued on to the point where words were mixing with body language. She was facing him completely, hands by her sides instead of crossed over her chest. And in turn, Scorpius reached up and took a gentle hold on a strand of her strawberry blond locks. He played with it and she couldn’t help but feel a bit of electricity pass through them. It made her heart a jump a beat and if she wasn’t well versed in flirting she could have swooned of allow her breath to be caught. But she didn’t, she just smiled up at Scorpius.
Scorpius held no seriousness to what she said. Though, each word made her worry more and more. She believed a bit into her words, there was some truth and with the word they lived it, those words could be incredibly important. But he teased her a bit and it managed to calm her down slightly. The girl raised an eyebrow, “Manipulative? More? How?” she questioned him. Whatever goal that was now focused in his mind was more light and happy than what she could have predicted him to think of. The redhead looked at him curiosly. That was true! Scorpius was a Professor at Hogwarts, but in all honesty, it brought her worry back. There was more and more truth to what she was saying, which was the scary part. “Right, Professor Malfoy.” She joked back trying to keep herself under control. He obviously held something in mind, but she didn’t want to ask. It wasn’t her place to.
Then the unthinkable happened. Scorpius filled up the space between them. He moved forward and closer to her the moment she stood up. Her heart rate began to quicken, her eyes went a bit wide. She had no idea what was going on, she didn’t know how to act. She wasn’t sure what was going on. She was confused and curious, a bad combination for her. She stayed in place and soon a tingling ran up her spine and electricity flowed through her. Thanks to Scorpius placing his hands on her waist. He was touching her and not in the hey we’re friends way. His voice was low and quiet, she couldn’t help but lean a bit closer to hear him better. Cliché plan? Oh yeah, her “prediction”, his goal? What was his goal?
Then he kissed her.
Everything began to make sense from there on out. His lips were on her hers. The blonde kissed her and, Lily felt something?
As soon as it began, Scorpius broke it. Her eyes was still closed, still slow to what was going on. She finally opened her blue green eyes. She blinked a couple of times before her eyes focused on Scorpius. The girl looked at her before touching her lips. She looked at her finger tips. “You, you just kissed me?” it was more of a question. The found herself leaning up against her desk. What did this mean? The girl looked back up before it was her turn closing up the space. She was back in front of him. Lily was on her toes and kissing Scorpius back, an arm wrapped his neck and a hand placed on his chest. Lily didn’t think. She just acted. And then she stopped kissing him. But she didn't move away.

After he had let her go and stepped back Lily looked at him with her blue green eyes and she blinked a few times. She was in shock as he was it seemed. He watched her touch her lips and then at her finger tips as she said ‘you kissed me’… was that an accusation? It sounded more like a question though. He looked at her as he tried to calculate what the right words were for this moment. His lips parted and moved softly as he kept wanting to say something but nothing came out.
Before he could put his thoughts together enough to make a sentence Lily was kissing him back. She wrapped her arm around his neck. He put his hands on her hips and squeezed her her close. Scorpius didn’t want to let her go, didn’t want this moment to end. He couldn’t believe this was actually happening. All these years of silently loving her in the background but never imagining that this would ever happen. He figured he had to go with it. He couldn’t let this moment get away. She put her hand on his chest and stopped kissing him.
The room was small and quiet. He looked her right in the eyes. ”Lily… I … I’ve always wanted to do that.” he quietly and followed it with another little kiss. ”Lily… I think I’m in love with you” He said it. The L-word. It was out. There was no going back now. His pupils were so big his light blue eyes could’ve been mistaken for being black. He looked at her scared of how she would react to his big reveal. The secret he swore he’d take to his grave before risking his friendship with her over his silly emotions. Had he been foolish? Probably. Scorp painfully waited for her to react.
