After he had let her go and stepped back Lily looked at him with her blue green eyes and she blinked a few times. She was in shock as he was it seemed. He watched her touch her lips and then at her finger tips as she said ‘you kissed me’… was that an accusation? It sounded more like a question though. He looked at her as he tried to calculate what the right words were for this moment. His lips parted and moved softly as he kept wanting to say something but nothing came out.
Before he could put his thoughts together enough to make a sentence Lily was kissing him back. She wrapped her arm around his neck. He put his hands on her hips and squeezed her her close. Scorpius didn’t want to let her go, didn’t want this moment to end. He couldn’t believe this was actually happening. All these years of silently loving her in the background but never imagining that this would ever happen. He figured he had to go with it. He couldn’t let this moment get away. She put her hand on his chest and stopped kissing him.
The room was small and quiet. He looked her right in the eyes. ”Lily… I … I’ve always wanted to do that.” he quietly and followed it with another little kiss. ”Lily… I think I’m in love with you” He said it. The L-word. It was out. There was no going back now. His pupils were so big his light blue eyes could’ve been mistaken for being black. He looked at her scared of how she would react to his big reveal. The secret he swore he’d take to his grave before risking his friendship with her over his silly emotions. Had he been foolish? Probably. Scorp painfully waited for her to react.

Scorpius had been working on lesson plans for the past few hours in his office. He was making good progress but he still was struggling to get used to working under the supervision of the late DADA professors whose intelligent images were captured in magical paintings that hung on the walls. Some of the Professors that had taught the class did not have a place on the wall (such as Professor Quirrel). Scorpius enjoyed some of them, like Professor Lupin. He’d only read good things about the man and couldn’t help looking up to him for his ultimate sacrifice. The man gave his life to not only protect Hogwarts and the students… but to create a better world for his family… his son - Teddy. Scorpius had always found his welcoming smile reassuring. The painting had never seemed to judge him upon finding out who he was. It was something he’d always appreciated since beginning his teaching career at Hogwarts at the beginning of the year. However, Professor’s Snape painting still made him itch a bit under his skin. He knew that Snape had had the best intentions and had done a great service to the Order. Yet, there was something in his gaze that Scorpius could quite decide what it was. Judgement? Disapproval? Or perhaps that was just his face. Maybe, his face just always looked that way. But he couldn’t help but think the Professor was waiting for him to do something foolish or fall on his face, like his father had done in Snape’s last days. On occasion, Scorpius would swear he saw a smirk of approval on Snape’s face but it changed so quickly he could never be so sure he hadn’t just imagined it.
Scorpius decided to go down to the kitchens to see if he could rummage for a drink or a late night snack. It would depend on how the elves would feel. Sometimes they seemed overly eager to feed him… other times they chided him like they would a child for his late night binges. Scorpius closed the door to his office, walked down the spiral staircase down through his empty classroom and then wandered out into the hallway. On his way to the Kitchen he found a pair of leather gloves resting on podium of a statue. They looked familiar though he could quite place where he’d seen them before. He checked the inside cuffs for a clue and there was the initials of Aurora Priestly. Of course it had to be her’s. Scorpius took a gander at his pocket watch to see what the time was 9:00pm. It wasn’t too late he decided. He figured he’d stop by her office first to see if could return them quickly.
Scorpius took a breath before knocking on her door. He wasn’t exactly excited to interact with Aurora. She didn’t exactly seem to be a fan of his… or anyone’s for that matter. It had always been in his best interest to avoid her when possible. After he knocked he wondered if maybe it was too late to be knocking on her door and wondering if she’d roast him on the coals for awakening her or perhaps catching her in her nightgown or something. He pushed his hair off his forehead as he waited his fate to come to him.

Scorp smiled when Lily continued to flirt a bit with him. It was something he wouldn’t expect her to do. He never thought she’d ever be even slightly attracted to him. He had feelings for her for the longest time but never imagined the possibility that she could have any feelings for him. ”Maybe sometime I will” he said as he raised his hand and gently played with a piece of her hair. Scorp really wanted to kiss her… but he didn’t want to throw himself at her. Maybe it was nothing but a harmless flirt.. something he should take lightly. He let go of her hair but his pupils were still dilated as he was still entranced by her.
Lily began to explain how cores and divinations were connected as she began to read him. She told him he had a goal. Which he did. He wanted to prove himself and save the world. However, the only goal on his mind right now was kissing Lily Luna Potter. ”I would agree” he commented at that as she gave him a teasing grin.
Next was the magician card. She told him he would act on his goal. His goal to kiss her? He had to resist. And he did. He simply laughed and added, ”I think I should be more manipulative, actually. I think it could have it’s benefits” he teased.
The final card was the emperor. Fatherly was the main word there. ”well… I am in charge of a bunch of hormonal teenagers all day… every day.” he laughed. She gave him a wink as she told him he was inflexible and conservative. ”that pretty much sums me up” he joked.
Lily then summarized the reading she gave and he nodded. He moved closer to her as she stood up. She looked at him to ask how she did. This was his chance to act on his goal… or die trying. She was so beautiful and in the last few minutes he felt so close to her, he could feel their flirtatious tension in the air like it was something tangible, something he could hold in his hands. He gently grabbed her by the waist and as his voice softened ”I think I should go with my cliche plan…” his voice was nothing but a whisper in her ear ”Or die trying I guess” . He pulled her closer and kissed her.
He then slowly opened his eyes, let go of her and moved a feet or so back. What did he do. He looked at her with curious eyes to see how she would react.

Everything that Arik spat back at him was like having acid sprayed at his face. It stung to the core. He didn’t want to feel hurt. That made him weak. He didn’t want to care that this guy hated him so much. But it did. He had always been sensitive to all the negativity that seemed to follow him. Scorpius wasn’t a crier but he did feel things really deeply. When he realized the extent of this man’s hate and distrust for him he was sad, mad, felt it was unfair… all the feelings were happening. Scorpius didn’t want to say or do something he’d regret though. He didn’t want to come down to this guy’s level. He didn’t want to be filled with the hate that obviously lived in every crevice of this man’s soul.
When Arik had said that he doubted that his occlumens ability was taught to him for protection his eye twitched a bit. Of course it was for protection. He was a smart guy… he should realize that his parents would know that both death eaters and order members and everyone in-between would have it out for him. That the world was against him long before he was a even a thought or a possibility. The Arik continued to say how Scorpius had done nothing in his mind to prove that he wasn’t a death eater. Scorpius hadn’t just become a Professor for kicks. He did it not only because he loved mentoring and teaching… but so he could spy on the death eaters for the Order and to protect all those kids if anymore fight went down at the castle. Everything he did was for them. He hardly did anything for himself. He was a very selfless person but still no matter what he did everyone saw him as a selfish coward the way they saw his family.
Arik continued to rub in the insults. He told Scorpius that he didn’t have experience fight dark wizards like he did. This was true. He didn’t. But he had been around them and trained by their kind all his life. Scorpius would never like to admit it but he understood them and new their kind better than most of the Order Members ever would. Arik told him that Scorpius was basically alive just because he had made others believe in him. He didn’t make people do anything. He just was who he was.
Scorpius was just mad at Arik. The guy always tried to act like he was this god. That he was some saint that was fighting for the right cause on the right side. However, Scorpius knew that Mr. Waters only gave a fuck about his family. Scorpius didn’t have faith that this guy would be around helping the Order if his family wasn’t on the run. Just like the Death Eaters, he was only looking out for his and himself. Scorpius had enough of his BS and didn’t care to hear anymore of it. He was done trying to prove himself to this guy. He wasn’t worth it. He wasn’t sure why he’d cared so much in the first place.
Scorpius sighed and said ”Well you have validated to me that you’re nothing but a bitter, blind and backwards old man. I’m not sure why they let you in the Order... You don’t care about anyone but yourself. You don’t live and fight because you want to make things better. You live for revenge… the darkness in your heart is eating you from the inside out. I’m done here… I don’t need to prove anything to someone as cold as you. My talk isn’t cheap. It’s free. I’m real. I’m not trying to put a hood over your eyes or stab you in the back. I’m just telling you who I am … what I am… but you’re no longer in touch with reality. You’re too far gone… to far in the darkness of your heart. It’s sad really. Enjoy your tea, Mr. Waters” he said before turning to leave.

It was 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. Professor Malfoy knew that soon the students that had signed up for Duelling club would soon be arriving in the Great Hall for the first meeting. Professor Malfoy was wearing a nice long-sleeved white shirt with medium grey pants and suspenders. He was no longer wearing a tie, he wanted to be loose and not so tied up for this. The Death Eaters running the school only agreed to allow dueling club to take place because they were under the impression it would help train the students to fight for their cause once they were abled. Scorpius however, secretly wanted it for the exact opposite reason. No one besides the other Order Members knew was he true plans were. Some students who had been to Order Meetings would have a hint of this knowledge but the rest of the student body probably assumed his allegiance was neutral. He didn’t abuse or torture the students, but he wasn’t exactly challenging the Death Eaters in public either. Professor Malfoy didn’t mind if his students thought he was neutral as long as they believed that he cared about them and their education. Which he did. He truly enjoyed the part of his job where he could mentor and mold these young minds. Professor Malfoy enjoyed his part as a role model, something he didn’t have much of when he was their age.
Professor Malfoy was already in the Great Hall. He was using his wand to setup the room. Moving the dining tables and benches so they were stacked along the east wall. He was also setting up the old dueling deck. It was large platform that raised about 4 feet off the ground. It stretched across half the room it seemed. The platform was painted a deep blue color and was decorated with the different phases of the moon. Once it was set up, Professor Malfoy stood on top of the platform as he waited for the students and other professors who wished to be there, to slowly trickle into the room.
Once a large number of students had arrived, Professor Malfoy cleared his throat and spoke, ”Gather round everyone, c’mon. Over here” he said motioning with his arm to get the kids who were scattered all around the room to come and congregate around the platform. ”Can everyone see me? Here me?” he waited to see if anyone protested ”If you see a first year or someone shorter behind you… let them come in closer alright?” he added. He knew it was rough for the first years who were always so much shorter than the rest of the student body. Once he was certain most of the students could hear and see him he continued, ”Excellent. Ok. You all are in DA and DADA but this club is the help you further your skill level in actual application of spells. We are going to try and make sure that you are improving on your database of spells, as well as your speed and delivery of the spells. Each house will have 2 house leaders. Your leaders will be in charge of setting up duels every other tuesdays so you get that one on one time with someone in your house, year, and skill level to aid in your progress.” Professor Malfoy was walking up and down the platform, turning every now and then to make sure that everyone was listening. ”Tonight, we are going to focus on how to block unfriendly spells. Now” he paused ”I’m looking for two volunteers to demonstrate their ability to to stop unfriendly spells during a duel.” Professor Malfoy eyed to room looking to see which two students would be the first to step up on the platform.

The way Arik started laughing at him was very unsettling and rude. The old man was so dry and hard from years of service and hunting dark wizards… Scorpius wondered how much humanity was left in him. He’d been chasing these guys for so long that he’d turned a cold heartless dementor. He was always looking for the next soul to devour. Scorpius listened to Arik continue to rip him to shreds, berate him and belittle him. He felt totally deflated. He didn’t really know what to say. There wasn’t anything he could say that would change Arik’s mind. The guy wouldn’t even hear him out.
Arik told Scorpius that he was even worse than the dirt on his shoe. Well we shot that elephant at least, Scorpius thought. Now that we have that confession, we both are on the same page about how Arik feels about me. Scorpius sighed. ”I’m sorry you feel that way, sir” Scorpius commented. ”I may have the same last name… but I’m more than that sir.” Arik mocked him for the reason he was an occlumens. ”Is it so wrong my grandparents wanted me to be able to protect myself. To keep myself safe?” This guy was being really harsh on him. He even had the nerve to scoff at him for being sorry about the wrong doings his family had done. ”I am sorry, Sir” Scorpius said a bit bitterly. He really was. It was bad enough he had to feel guilty for shit he didn’t do and have it basically stamped on his forehead, let alone have dicks like Arik Waters stuff shit in his face about it when he never had anything to do with it in the first place. It was wrong that he had to be tormented constantly for something that happened long before he was born.
The final straw was when Arik told Scorpius that his word was nothing to him. That he had to prove himself (as he hadn’t already been doing that all his life? Had he ever done anything wrong? No. Did people still act like he was a fucking demented killer? Yes. It was never enough). Arik then threatened him not only his life, but his family’s as well. Scorpius hated fighting. Hated contention. Hated all of it. He was a peaceful guy. He often let people step on him, just so he could end whatever friction was going on. But today, he was just really fed up with. ”Nothing I do or don’t do will ever make you see me clearly. You refuse to see me for who I am. You choose to see me, the way you want to see…. If you are so convinced that I’m a traitor why haven’t you just killed me?! Just do it now! Might as well!” Scorpius was daring Arik to act. Was this talker gonna walk the walk? Or just talk the talk?

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Teasing Lily was always fun, but it was always more fun when she played along. Whenever she gave him that smirk of her’s or when they rubbed shoulders he could feel the electricity between them. Or at least the electricity on his part. Everything just felt so natural when he was with her. But maybe that was a bad thing… maybe their relationship should be harder… more stretched and torn. Maybe then, Lily would really notice him, the way he noticed her.
Lily could be a real talker at times. Scorpius didn’t mind it though. He could listen to her read a telephone book and he’d be fine with it. He just loved being with her and she could make anything interesting… even his wand. She told him his wand wood was uncommon. He liked the sound of that. He liked to think of himself as different. Well he knew he was. He’d always been different. Or at least unexpected. At first she told him that he probably had trouble learning spells with his wand. He did at times. The wand often seemed to have a mind of it’s own. But the way she said it made him sound like a really lame wizard. But then, she switched gears and made it into a compliment by saying if he could master spells with his wand it meant he was really talented it. Scorpius smiled. He liked the sound of that a lot more. Then she called him stubborn and he couldn’t help but laugh. There was that honesty streak of her’s.
Lily told him he has a lot to prove. Or maybe it was a question. Either way, she was right. His whole life he had been trying to prove himself to someone. Whether it was to his grandparents, or his mother, then his classmates and now the Order or the Death Eaters. Whatever he was, was never enough for anyone. It was never what they wanted him to be. It was a constant struggle. A constant burden to bear. She then told him that his wand work was flashy and winked. Scorpius said ”I don’t think you know how flashy my wand can be” he said winking back and adding to the innuendo going on.
Then she told him his core did have an affinity to light or dark magic. That it could adapt to either. She straight out called him neutral. He wasn’t so sure if she was making a comment about his outward appearance because of the person he had to be around the death eaters… or if she truly thought he was neutral at heart. Either way it stung a bit. What if she truly thought he was walking the line just to stay out of the fire. He really hoped that wasn’t the case. He tried not to show it on his face. Maybe he read her wrong at that moment. He didn’t want to make a big deal about it. Maybe one day she would know just how deep he’d go and has gone for the sake of the Order and for the good it stands for.
She gave him back his wand. He took it, sticking it back in his pocket. Lily told him about wand lore being linked to divination. ”I’ve never heard that before” he said amused. She asked him if he wanted to know what the cards meant ”Yeah. Lay it on me.” he told her. He was rather curious. Even if he wasn’t, he never would’ve been able to say know to that smile.

Scorpius came upon the group of fighters just in time to see Amos telling Arik to get Eden out of here. A look of confusion crossed his face as he was taken off guard. This guy was a death eater. He knew that part very well… but why would he care about Eden Davies getting to safety. Scorpius had missed the bit about her being pregnant but even so … it was very peculiar for a Death Eater to care about anyone’s ass besides his own and definitely strange that he was trying to protect an Order Member… the lover of one of Harry Potter’s sons.
Amos Lestrange then told Scorpius that they could fight… but again Amos seemed to be waiting for something to happen first. He was waiting for Eden to leave before he unleashed his fury. Scorpius didn’t like to fight. He didn’t get much of a thrill out of it. But he did because one must to protect others. Scorpius was prepared to do whatever was necessary to protect the innocent and the order members. Scorpius didn’t look at Arik but it was clear that, that was who he was talking too ”Arik, get Eden out! I’ve got this” he said as he continued to have a death stare with his enemy.
However, Arik didn’t leave right away. He stayed. He had his own goals in mind. He demanded that Amos tell him who was looking for him. Arik literally growled the words out. Arik’s face was filled with aggressive determination. Scorpius kept his wand aimed and focused at Amos. He would’ve shot already if he wasn’t waiting for both Eden to leave and for Arik to get his answer. Scorpius could only imagine the rage that would ensue if Scorpius did anything to hinder Arik from finding out the details to this question. Scorpius noticed how Arik continued to look at him… like a kernel of popcorn getting ready to explode into something completely different. Arik was waiting for him to switch sides and be the traitor that Arik always had pinned him to be. Arik was going to be very disappointed to realize he’d been wrong all along…
Scorpius saw from the corner of his eye Eden quickly leaving the room and going down a hallway. She was finally gone and the fighting could continue.. however he wished Arik would follow Eden to ensure his safety or for Arik to give him the go ahead so that he could continue protecting Eden.

Scorpius could never catch a break with this guy. No matter how hard Scorpius tried to show he wasn’t a threat… that he wasn’t a clone or a repeat of what his father and grandparents had been… it was never enough for Arik. There was no convincing him to change his mind or ease up on his understandable but no longer necessary harsh judgments. Arik turned away from him and simply stated the house was open to Order members. That he was. Scorpius just nodded at that, not wanting to say something that would set the guy off but part of him wanted to just tell him straight… tell him how it was. How his life was and who he was because of it. Scorpius was never meant to be a death eater. But he doubt even if he tried to explain his life story to Arik, that he’d listen or even care. Arik would probably assume is was more of his Malfoy trickery.
Arik told him that the dueling at grimmauld’s was focused on dark arts which he found handy. Scorpius squinted a bit as he tried to determine if this was a fleeting moment absent of animosity. But then he thought better of it. Most likely it was another sneaky way of Arik trying to catch Scorpius in a lie about his allegiance. He kept his mouth shut, unsure of how to respond without Arik trying to pin him down as a death eater traitor.
It didn’t surprise Scorpius when Arik tried to snub him off by telling Scorp he was drinking his tea, followed by asking him if there was something he’d like in his regular callous condescending way. Scorpius laughed to himself. What did this guy want from him. He knew full well. Arik wanted Malfoy gone… not just from the house but from the Order. Arik wanted Scorpius to admit to the crime of being a Malfoy which for Arik would mean he was guilty of much more. ”Sir… All I want is for you to stop treating me like I’m a tiger ready to pounce on you the second you turn your back. I’m not going to try and apologize for all the shit my family has done. That’s their downfalls… not mine. I know what they’ve done can’t be pardoned… but you have to know I had nothing to do with any of that… most of it happened long before I was even born. I wasn’t raised to be a monster and I promise I’m not going to turn into one either. I know it’s hard for you to forgive and forget. I’m not asking you to do that. I’m just asking you to see me… for who I am… and not for what my family did in the past. I’m sorry.. I really am… from the bottom of my heart… I’m sorry for whatever it was my family did that affect you… your family… friends … loved ones… But I’m not that guy. I’m fighting on your side… for the same cause and I’d just appreciate it if you didn’t keep treating me like I was dirt on your shoe” perhaps that was a bit much… perhaps he should have held back… perhaps this was all going to end very badly but he had to get it out. However, he finished his rant by adding a respectful ”sir” at the end.

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Lily scoffed at his comment about not believing she could make a wand. She was only teasing him though. Lily knew what Scorpius meant. He was just in awe. He didn’t have the slightest idea on how wands were made. It was completely out of his realm of understanding. Lil then went on to say that all she did was work and so she had no social or love life. Scorpius bumped her back - shoulder to shoulder. ”Now whose fault is that Potter?” he teased her back.
Lily explained to him about the wood it was created from and what it was good for. It also seemed she had been keeping tabs about who was buying the different kinds of wands. He couldn’t help but think it was a lot to remember. Lily was always much smarter than most. She had a quick mind and was probably a pro at trivia. It was something he always admired about her… how shamelessly smart she was. In that way she reminded him of her aunt Hermione. Scorpius didn’t exactly know the woman that well.. but from he did know of her and his few interactions… the lady was a bonafide genius. Sharp as a whip. Lily wasn’t exactly related to her by blood but Scorpius was sure Hermione had been a positive role model for Lily.
Lily continued to explain about wand cores. She told him about a merperson who was fond of her father - the forever famous - Boy Who Lived - The Chosen One. There were many people and creatures that had become fond of the great Harry Potter over the years. It didn’t surprise him one bit that there was a merperson eager to share her scales with his family.
Lily told him to trust her and of course he did. He always had and always would. Lily Potter could do no wrong in his eyes. After the box exploded and he lightly suggested tweaking it, Lily told him it was him not the wand that had caused the explosion. ”Always so brutally honest, aren’t you Potter?” he said playfully. ”So basically your wand hates me because I’m a man… now, that’s not very becoming of it.” He joked. Scorpius took out his wand. ”I bet you can easily tell what my wand is just by looking at it… but what I want to know is… what does my wand say about me?” He handed her his wand. Wizards rarely seemed to trust anyone to handle their wands… but Scorpius always trusted Lil. ”It’s like the wands are talking to you. You’re like the wand whisperer”

Hey there! Yes I think that could work. Maybe once he got to hogwarts she didn't hang out with him that much though because she is older and because she realized how uncool it was to be his friend because of how everyone else treated him at school.
What side is she on?

The second Scorpius was in the building he frantically made his way to where his parents and grandparents were. His feet were hitting the floor as fast and hard as he could manage. His family had done a lot of wrong in this world, but they were still his loved ones. The ones that had loved him and raised him all those years. They weren’t perfect and had made many mistakes but he felt they had already paid the consequences thoroughly. In his hurry to reach them he may have ran past things he maybe shouldn’t have. Maybe he should’ve stopped and helped some others but he felt his duty was first to his family, especially his mother. She was the one who truly raised him to be loving and accepting and forgiving… even when he felt he didn’t have the strength. His mother had come from a death eater family and raised to hate those with “unpure blood” but she had risen above all the hate and had become something much different. She had taught Scorpius that you didn’t have define yourself by the flaws of your family. That the person you were was the one you chose to be.
Scorpius felt he was the only one who would care for or even take pity on his family in this situation. He knew he would be their only chance of survival. Scorpius was out of breath by the time he reached their room. Their beds were empty. Something he wasn’t expecting. He quickly checked some nearby rooms to see if perhaps they patients had already been evacuated to safety. From what he could tell, all the patients besides a few stray dead ones had all been evacuated. Just as he was beginning to feel some sense of relief he saw his grandmother, Narcissa Malfoy, and Gildroy Lockhart aimlessly wandering in one of the halls. Scorpius ran to his grandmother, hugging her, trying to comfort her. She was obviously stricken with fear by the events going on around her. Just as he guiding the pair away, hoping to take them to safety… Abel Dolohov ran past them firing hard. Lockhart was taken by a stray. A purposely aimed killing curse hit Narcissa. Scorpius was able to catch her as she fell.
Scorpius was now on his knees, clutching the lifeless body of his grandmother. He rocked her back and forth. He had never cried so hard in his whole life. The feeling was so raw and real it took him by surprise. His grandmother had always been a proud woman with her own set of flaws. But she had always loved him the best she could and protected him whenever possible. He had been an occlumens under her tutelage. Narcissa knew the best way to protect her grandson from the harsh realities of this world was to capitalize on his natural abilities and teach him how to defend himself.
Scorpius would’ve stayed on the ground holding on to the last piece of his grandmother if he hadn’t heard Arik loudly shouting ‘Crucio’. Scorpius gently laid his grandmother on the floor. He wished he could properly say goodbye or even close her eyes but this wasn’t the time. He was in the middle of a war zone. His family were not the only ones he cared about. There were others that needed assistance. This was his chance to finally prove what side he was fighting for.
Scorpius turned a corner and found Arik fighting hard and could see a bit of Eden Davies firing her own spells from behind a desk. Scorpius began ducking past curses and hexes. He shot a few back in various directions before reaching his two comrades. His eyes were wet and raw. He quickly tried to dry them in the crook of his arm because he both didn’t want anyone to see him in this moment of weakness and also because it kept blurring his vision.

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Scorpius loved that Lily seemed eager to show him what she’d been working on. He didn’t hesitate to follow through the isles of wands and into the back room. The room had been pitch black. When Lil turned on the light it took him a second to adjust. He listened closely as she described the details of the wand she had made. ”Wow Potter. I’m impressed. I can’t believe you know how to make one these.” She was learning really quickly. He imagined it wouldn’t be long before she was the next famed wand maker.
She told him the wand needed to be tested out and that he’d be the first besides herself to touch it. Scorpius laughed, ”Lil, are you serious? That’s incredible, and I’m honored.” Lily winked at him and he reached to grab the wand. Just before he touched he paused to ask ”What’s the likelihood I’ll need you to nurse me back to health after this?” he was mostly joking but he couldn’t help but be partially curious about how many she had made and how many had ended up going horribly wrong. Scorpius trusted her and he was afraid of pain so he took it carefully.
Lil told him to give it a go and so he did. He put a firm grip to it and waved it gently as he pointed at a box in the corner. The box levitated quite nicely into the air. ”Nice work Potter. Seems to work perf-“ but before he could finish his sentence the box exploded and packing peanuts blasted all over the room. He cautiously set the wand back down where Lily had grabbed it from. ”Almost there… just a little tweaking and I’m sure it’ll be excellent” he said reassuringly, hoping he wouldn’t hurt her feelings.

Scorpius often found it very hard to read Arik. The man was old, gruff and had the best damn poker face he’d ever seen. However, he knew very well the guy didn’t trust him. It was no fault of his own. He’d always been a straight arrow. His mother had raised him well despite her many obstacles with the rest of the family. Scorpius understood and accepted why people hated him. His family was far from perfect and had made many mistakes. Mistakes that contributed to many horrible things. Even so, when he heard the way Arik emphasized his last name, it hurt. Scorpius was always trying to prove himself to everyone. To show everyone he fell a lot farther from the tree than they’d expect.
Arik then stated that he was unaware that anyone was in the house and that his family must have taught him some skill. He knew it was probably another stab at his family being death eaters… or had been death eaters. Was it not enough they were tortured to insanity? No matter what side you were on, the punishments and violence was never enough to compensate past loss. That was the problem with society. Everyone was always so bent on revenge and fighting fire with fire that no one ever thought to just let stuff be in the past. Or at least this is how he often felt about it. Scorpius took Arik’s words with a grain of salt.
Scorpius began talking with his eyes at his feet. He hated contention of any sort. Especially, when it wasn’t necessary. ”I’m sorry sir… I didn’t mean to startle you… or intrude” He looked up at Arik now. He wasn’t afraid of Arik, but felt the best way to deal with him was to show him respect. The guy fed on it and Scorpius didn’t mind giving it… for the most part. ”I was just looking for some new reading material. Trying to study up on my dueling abilities… I won’t be here long, I’ll be out of your hair soon, promise” Scorpius wonder if he dare ask Arik was up to… ”If you don’t mind me asking, sir, what are you up to?”

FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVED YOU LOVED ME TOO
Scorpius couldn’t help but smile back when he saw Lily smiling at him. Her smile was always contagious. It was always seemed to light up her whole face, the whole room even. Everything was better when Lily was around. He watched as she rounded a corner as she called him ‘Mr. Big Bad Malfoy’. He laughed. It sounded like what most people thought of him whenever he showed his face. She gave him a big hug. Her hugs were always something he looked forward to. Scorpius gave her a firm hug back. He didn’t really want to let go, but he did… he didn’t want to come off Mr. Malfoy the Creep.
When he let go of her, his hand automatically went back into the pockets of his leather jacket. He was known for talking with his hands in his pockets. Scorpius walked around the little shop, casually checking everything out. ”So what ya been up Potter? What are you working on right now? You always look like you’re really into your work… Not that I often see you at work… but you know what I mean… I know you….It’s good though. You have passion, you know. There are a lot of people who could use a bit more of that” Scorpius laughed quietly at himself. He realized that sometimes he talked a bit more when he was nervous. It had actually been a while since he'd seen Lily. She was just so beautiful and amazing... he didn't want to mess anything up.
