After the letter exchange between Hadrian Greyback and himself, William had to admit that he was intrigued. The professor knew that it was never truly a good idea for a wolf to roam without a pack. It made it more likely that the wolf would be attacked or worse, the wolf might go feral and be taken out by his old team. So yes, he was interested in the offer. But more than that he couldn't help feeling mildly amazed that a Greyback had reached out to a man such as himself, even if it wasn't the notorious Fenrir. Not that he wanted to be propositioned by Fenrir. No, the less he had to do with the wolf that created such a stigma for his kind the better.
In any case the curiosity created by the slightly arrogant sounding words was hard for the man to put away. Which is how he found himself buttoning up his over coat and heading out of the castle with his usual slow and limping pace. There was a thermas of tea and a pair of cups floating delicately behind him as he made his way to Hog's Head early.
Once there the professor muttered a few Scourgify-ies at the table and chairs in the corner, creating a small pocket of relatively clean space before he sat down. Eyes towards the door at he watched and waited. Once he paused in order to pour himself a still steaming cuppa, using his wand to create a small stream of milk into the cup before calling it good and taking a small drink. Now, to wait for the Alpha. || WORD COUNT: XXX || NOTES: Continuing "Wolf Shit"|| TAGS: Hadrian || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

Hadrian took his wolf business very seriously. He was very determined to build something great for those who shared his blessed fate. The destiny of a wolf. Hadrian didn’t want to just build something that would topple over with the first breath of wind. He wanted something that would last, something that was strong, something they could be proud of many years from now. Hadrian also wanted to build something that would separate him from his father. He wanted everyone to know how ambitious, grand and more positive his goals were compared to anything his father could’ve ever envisioned.
Hadrian knew of this man… Mr. William Charles. He had unique skill sets he thought would be beneficial to have in his pack. Brains. Wit. etc. His father had added a bunch of mindless dummies to their breed. It wasn’t very helpful. In fact it was the exact opposite. Sure he could use them as man-power… but what good was power if it had no direction? That’s how he thought it. Hadrian was much more calculating than his father had ever been. Hadrian planned things out, thought things through, he planned for the future. His father just ran around like the crazy fool he was just biting anything that moved. His father had been nothing to his people… his werewolves besides something that caused havoc in an already chaotic world.
Hadrian entered the Hog’s Head right on time. His timing was almost too perfect. He wasn’t alone though. He brought with him five other werewolves, most of which he called his ‘guards’. The stronger, smarter, most reliable of those he had among his following so far. Hadrian didn’t bring them to show off or cause Mr. Charles to feel uncomfortable. He brought them because they were his entourage, his pack… they followed him almost everywhere. It was just how it was. Most wolves liked to stay in groups. Hadrian was more of a lone wolf than the rest of them so he ordered them away many times to give himself space, but today he didn’t see anything wrong with them coming.
When Hadrian and the group came in, he ushered them to the other side of the pub. He didn’t like snoops. He didn’t want them to know everything that went on between him and those he met with it. It wasn’t because he didn’t trust them… but because he liked to be in control. He liked to have all the cards in his hand. He liked to remain a bit of mystery and not have everyone know every step of his plans.
Hadrian grunted in greeting to Mr. Charles. He then grabbed a chair and sat in it. His legs were spread pretty wide, his way of subconsciously claiming is space and showing his dominance. He made a rumble of a chuckle and extended his hand ”Mr. Charles. It’s very good to finally be seeing you in person.” He then rubbed his chin and slapped the table excitedly and made a smile ”So you will join my pack then” he said. It wasn’t a question, but more of a statement. He didn’t think there was much to discuss. He saw this as the man accepting his proposition.

William was taking a small sip of his still steaming tea as the door to the pub opened and in swept Hadrian. Along with five others that he assumed were pack. William only smiled the tiniest bit as he set the cup down, moving to balance his cane over his lap. He couldn't blame the Alpha for bringing along a guard. Nor did he particularly feel intimidated by their appearance. If anything it made him acknowledge Hadrian as further from his father's line. The professor let the smile fall from his face as the alpha sent his wolves over to the other area of the bar before coming over.
As he watched this display he had set down his own cup and carefully set the other cup beside the thermos as a subtle, unsaid offer. By the other's gruff appearance William wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't drink something as gentle as tea. Hadrian seemed more of the beer or hard liquor type.
"Good evening to you as well, Alpha Greyback." His words were polite and just this side of uninterested. He said nothing as he watched the display of dominance and only picked up his tea to take another drink. Which he set done once again in order to take the offered hand, shaking it with his usual firm grip that showed the strength he once had as a man. "That would be why we are meeting, yes. I thought we should meet in person to discuss terms, positions, and any expectations on both our parts. I believe we established your desire to build your... empire... But I fail to see how exactly you plan to go about the actual acquisition of power." Well, he failed to see Hadrian's desire was any different than his fathers. Even if their approaching of the situations might have differed. There was a pause before he gestured invitingly to the tea. "I happen to have a drink with me, nonalcoholic tea. Unless you would prefer something from the bar?" William wouldn't be drinking anything the Hog's Head had to offer. Their establishment was disgusting enough, he didn't want to even think of what their glasses were like. || WORD COUNT: XXX || NOTES: Continuing "Wolf Shit"|| TAGS: Hadrian || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

When William greeted him, he was pleased that this guy was trying to be polite and call him ‘alpha’. However, Hadrian didn’t care for titles like that. As much as he enjoyed being in charge, he was just one of the pack. Hadrian reached over and tapped William on the shoulder. ”Call me Volka”
The man began asking questions and laying out how he wanted the meeting to go. Hadrian laughed. If this guy new that Hadrian was the leader, than why did he ask… when he should listen? Why does he try to lead the conversation… when he should follow? Ballsy people who didn’t realize their place, or made their own place always humored Hadrian. Hadrian laughed as he leaned backwards and ran his fingers through his hair, putting it in a man pony.
Then William offered him tea. ”You’re a funny man, Mr. Charles” he said with his Russian accent. ”I don’t drink tea… not when I can get some vodka” Hadrian then turned to his wolves and did some hand motions and shouted something in Russian. One of the shot up and walked over to the bar.
Hadrian then turned back to William, smiling. ”Positions?” he asked. He pointed at himself ”I’m the boss” and then pointed at William ”And you are… uhhh…” he brought his hand back and rubbed his chin thinking. He had all sorts of wolves in all sorts of positions… but where to put this man… where would he fit. Hadrian thought of his weak leg. He also thought of William’s strength - his intelligence. Hadrian grunted a bit before saying, ”You’re a smart man, Mr. Charles… I could always use an advisor. Someone to run my plans by… a second mind to see flaws when I’m too close to the problem. Every great leader needs to be able to stand on his own, but also needs clarity of mind and second sight to see things he cannot see.” Hadrian’s werewolf friend came and brought the drink, left it on the table and then quickly walked away.
Then Hadrian went on to the next topic. ”My expectations are that I lead… and you follow, Mr. Charles. It’s very easy. But if you are my advisor… I need you to be brave most of all. It’s never easy to tell me another perspective when I have my mind set on something else… but your job is to speak up when no one else will. Are you brave enough to be that man?”
He then went to final topic that William had brought up. ”I don’t desire to build an empire. I will build an empire. Beyond Hogsmead is a large portion of unclaimed lands. That’s where I will build. I will slowly take my followers… those loyal to me and not my father, out of the woods and into a new land where we will make our own place. My father is strong, determined and formidable … but he doesn’t plan and calculate the way I can. I’m not worried about him.” Hadrian was very sure of himself.
Hadrian chugged down the shot and leaned back in his chair. ”What else you need to ask?”

"Volka, then." He acquiesced, body relaxed even with the alpha male invading his space. It wasn't something he was uncomfortable with in the least. No, just another thing he'd learned to tolerate -maybe even welcome- when he'd worked at his old job. "If you'd like to drop formalities you are welcome to just call me William."
William did not have to try to be polite to the higher ranking wolf, nor did he have to try and pretend that he was an easy wolf; a wolf that would roll over and bare its soft bits at the slightest hint of danger. However he was not a brass or assuming man. Even if it might seem that way to those who did not know him. He was the type to phrase is suggests as though they were already set in motion, and only those who knew to listen for certain key words would know the difference. It was a tactic employed by his mother. One he'd picked up quickly and effectively.
The younger wolf but older man brought his cup back to his lips as Hadrian turned down his offer. While he might not have blamed the male for turning down tea, he couldn't help but wonder how he'd be able to stand putting the dirty glass to his skin. No. William had enough of an urge to shower just by sitting. Allowing the filth in his mouth just wouldn't do.
Blue eyes watched the wolves move swiftly as their alpha commanded them. There was no sign of fear in the lines of their body, which is all he cared to see. William turned his attention fully back to the alpha, face blank of emotion as he listened to the other man speak. Taking mental notes of his words and his tones throughout the speech. He didn't try to interrupt the other -both as a show of respect and also because he cared more for the other's finished thoughts that halting a train. Only once did he move from his position to lean forward and pour himself more tea into the empty cup.
As the alpha finished his speech and asked for any further questions, William allowed himself to take the breath that would lead to his responses to what the other man said.
"I am agreeable to becoming an Adviser to yourself. Your reasons hold merit and I foresee no problems at the arrangement." There was no need for the words to be taken as a compliment to Hadrian's skills. The words were not intended to be such. They were merely acknowledging that Hadrian wasn't as stupid as his father.
As he thought about the question of his bravery a sly smile fell onto the man's lips. "I have faced rapid wolves on full moons armed with nothing more than a wand between me and their teeth while I was still only human. An angry but sane alpha will do little to scare me if there is true error in judgement. You would need to trust my judgement as well as your own, of course. My place would be little more than a title if you never hear my words. Do you think you can trust a man you barely know to tell you the things you may not want to hear?"
William set down his cup at that and nodded once, content with Hadrian's plans for the future. Though he would remain questionable about the situation regarding planned housing. But that was not significant enough to warrant immediate attention. Instead he steeled his eyes and tilted his chin just a fraction. "I have a particular... Let us call it a hobby... That most of those aligned with the Dark Arts would find tasteless. While it should not effect the pack significantly I feel it is best I warn you. It is nothing concretely against the law but would be dangerous if the wrong sort were to come sniffing around. I would like to obtain permission to continue this persuit without fear of interuption." That was a lot more than he wanted to say while they were in an establishment possibly crawling with Death Eaters.

William told Hadrian that he agreed he could be an advisor to him. Hadrian fist pounded the table in delight. ”You see. I knew you would say yes.” He said smiling to himself. He loved when people agreed with him. The man then told him how he was naturally brave and had survived encounters with werewolves only armed with a wand. Hadrian nodded. That’s what he wanted to hear. Someone that wasn’t afraid of the obstacles in their path. The hardest roads to travel always had the most desirable destinations. William then told Hadrian that he’d have to trust his judgement as well as his own. Hadrian scoffed a bit with a little dry chuckle, ”I always trust my judgement” But then William asked if he could trust a man he barely knew to tell him things he may not want to hear. Hadrian thought about it for a short moment before responding. ”I trust in the fact that you have a perspective different than my own… and those of my peers. You can’t put price on perspective if it’s something you’ve been blind to all along. But, to be clear, William” he said dropping the formalities ”I won’t put all my trust in you right away of course. I won’t divulge all my secrets and plans just like that. I will slowly let you into my fold and see how it goes… if you can match the potential I believe you have… then we might have something great. However, if you betray me in any way you will rue the day you sat at this table with lies hissing though your fangs” His face was completely serious to see how William would react to his intimidating gaze. Hadrian then laughed breaking whatever tension there may have been.
Hadrian listened to William request to continue on a certain all secretive pursuit of his. Hadrian could tell that the man wanted a bit of privacy before divulging his personal activities with him. Hadrian took out his wand and made the area around their table soundproof from prying ears. Hadrian was known for being a werewolf but not many were fully aware of his excellent spell craft as well. ”I see… and what pursuit would this?” he asked eyebrow raised, curious of what the man would say next.

William merely smiled as his new alpha fist bumped the table, doing no more than picking up his cup so the tea wouldn't slosh over the rim. He'd been fairly certain upon arrival that he'd be agreeing to Hadrian's terms anyway so he didn't feel offended or angered in the slightest that he felt right in line with Hadrian's thoughts as well. No. He much liked it when someone else could be on his train of thought. Or they could at least act though they understood in what direction he might be headed.
His hand were folded carefully over each other, not grabbing his cup to use as a shield but not taking up more space than was needed. It was a tiny act of submission from the older man. This was a position he adopted and maintained as Hadrian spoke to him of trust. The threat plain as the moon in the sky didn't cause the young werewolf to waver from his blank expression. He had nothing to hide and no reason to be fear for his throat. William knew he had done no wrong and had spoke no lie so he did not flinch for he had no reason. Instead he tilted his head to the side to bare his throat for a fraction of a second and then went for his cup of tea again. "I would not follow you as my alpha if you did anything less, Volka. Only brutes trust so freely and only fools trust as such and yet allow the betrayer to live." His voice was calm and hands steady as he brought his tea to sip from, letting another bare smile pull at his lips in answer to the other man's laugh.
As Hadrian pulled out his wand to cast the privacy bubble, William couldn't help the small smile on his face. Yes, it was definitely nice to be able to have someone who could understand him. On his old team he might had to spell it out for the poor men to understand. However he hoped Hadrian hadn't thought the privacy was all that was needed for him to spill his guts. "You must understand, Volka, I mean no disrespect nor do I mean to seem like I do not trust you... But I do not trust you fully, just as you do not trust me. I would divulge information for you if the pursuit in question were not what it is. As it is the matter is worth more than just my life but the lives of those who come to me in confidence. I will not betray them anymore than I would betray you for as long as I am able. I understand you might be hesitant to give permission while not knowing of the activity but you may take me on my word that it has nothing to do with an allegiance to the Death Eater scum. I have allegiances to no one save you, if you would still have me." And Alixander. He had allegiances with Alixander, but that wasn't really something of import to the alpha. He'd find that out when more trust was gained.

Hadrian listen to the man tell him that his lack of full trust was not an attitude of disrespect but merely because only time could make him fully open up to Hadrian. Hadrian merely nodded. As much as he often wished he could control everyone from their thoughts to their actions he knew he could not… and that it was probably against nature to feel that way. He knew where William was coming from for he too did not want to fully extend all his trust to someone who hadn’t been able to prove his position. The idea of William having a secret hobby or affair that he could not divulge to him was both intriguing and a bit unsettling. However, as much as he didn’t like it, he didn’t feel threatened by it. He decided that for now, for the time being, that he should just let William carry on with his activities as they be. William had declared his one allegiance would be to him after all. That’s all Hadrian could ask for at the moment. And so it was, what it was. ”Alright then William. I suppose I will accept this secrecy for now. Hopefully, we will slowly gain one another’s trust because I feel we could be great partners in the grand scheme of things. I think we’ve struck a deal then William. Welcome to the pack” he said offering a hand for a shake to solidify the new friendship and allegiance.
Hadrian then stood up and waved his wand to take down the barrier he had created. He stood up and said. ”Meet our newest brother” he said pointing his hand in the direction of William. The other wolves stopped what they were doing. They stood up and nodded towards William. Hadrian then began to walk towards the door to leave. ”Do we have everything in order then?” He said making sure that everything had indeed been settled for the time being.
