| A Slytherin would always be a Slytherin, that much William knew to be true. Especially a Slytherin with a foot hold or more in the Death Eaters. Which is exactly what the man before him was. So William could easily joke about matters with snakes when he knew his neck would not be on the line for it. Besides. A historian such as Elroy would have been interested in the Chambers of Secrets. A thought that was proven true by the man's reply. But all jest and talk of visiting fell aside as they dove into the matters that actually held value. Enough pleasantries had been exchanged that the professor felt they had a successful greeting and he wouldn't need to worry about insult. William kept himself still as he watched the man before him, figuring that the Slytherin was just weighing the importance of sharing information over his own curiosity. He understood the need for hesitancy. After all he held his cards close as well. Counting as well the fact that Elroy and William held no trust between them nor a strong friendship past the exchange of information, yes, he well understood hesitation. Just as he had hesitated with giving his new alpha anything of himself. But he would be a poor adviser if he didn't gather this information and Volka suffered for his lack of knowledge. Even if he went through his other channels to obtain the list, William thought Elroy would be the best source when he wanted the information quickly. A small satisfied smile pulled at the corner of his mouth as the other man leaned forward to speak. William nodded once and sat up straighter in his chair. "I shall have to take your word on the matter then, Elroy. Let me see the text you need translating and I will tell you what it says." With the agreement struck he let his body shift slightly, more stiff and poised than he had been before. A more natural posture for the wolf. He moved to hold out his hand expectantly, smile still on his lips. |

| A s a wolf that favored subtle strategy and kept his cards close to his chest, William was sure that he would hate those who might display their ambition so blatantly. However it seemed he surrounded himself with men like Elroy and Hadrian. William took a moment while his companion laughed to mourn the fact he took up any sort of relations with men that wanted to rule their worlds. But in the end it was men like that which appealed to the sly wolf. Their boasting never failed to make him want to both laugh and to shake sense into them. "Only some? Should I worry for what other things you might be filling your house with? Might I open the door for the bathroom and find a basilisk in the shower?" He cocked his head to the side and let a wider smile pull at his lips at the joke. "As long as the shower is clear of snakes and the tea is hot, I'm sure I'll enjoy your renovations. However many you may have."Sometimes, though, the call for being subtle was unnecessary. Such as when dealing with Elroy. While he wouldn't reveal everything there was a certain extent to which he could be fully open. If only because they were both aware of knowledge the other would already be party to. So William only smiled at the man of similar position and glanced back when the door shut, waiting until he heard the faint click before opening his mouth to speak. "I need what we both do. Information." A pause led the wolf to adjust his injured leg, the first of his movements since sitting down in the chair. "You've heard of my alliance with Alpha Greyback, pup of Fenrir. I know enough of him but my knowledge of the current territory dealings is limited. I had hoped your reach might extend so I might glance at at documents pertaining to the current wolves and affairs." |

| W hile William did not care for his job -namely because his job didn't involve forests and did involve messy children- he did care for loyalty. A true Hufflepuff trait. When he aligned himself with his alpha he was willing to go along with the plans of the werewolf empire. William himself did not care one iota for power beyond what he had but if the man he would give advice to desired it than William thought it best if he got all the information he could. Information on current werewolf territories, shifts of power, and any possible personal information that might be surrounding the alpha. Maybe he didn't trust the man but he'd be damned if he got blind sided just because he didn't know something that was of import. The blue eyed wolf nodded at Elroy's words, once again leaving the small half smile on his lips. He made his way slowly to the chair opposite of the man's desk, sitting down on his seat while leaning his cane against the arm. "A throne? Really, Elroy, you should know better than to blatantly display your desires in front of those who might not know of it." There was a pause before the wolf gave his own signature half smile in return. "I would put it in your home instead." With that he turned his attention to the book in the man's hands. Eyeing the cover and listening to the words being spoken. While it was true William had kept up on the studies (and not for the sake of his students) he was not as well versed in the Egyptian runes as he'd lead people to believe. It was rare that anyone ran across them anymore. At least what with his line of work. No one cared about fancy scripts when there were giant spiders at their throats. "I would take a look and see what it says, if you would do something for me in return?" William didn't feel he needed to ask but it was always better not to presume. Better not to look like you were presuming at least. His hands stayed stationary in his lap, back relaxed against his chair, to continue the appearance of non-presumption. He'd wait for the other to hand over the book while they discussed the exact cost of William lending a trusted hand. |

| W illiam was not really the sort of man that would have become a teacher if he'd had any other choice. Being surrounded by children and idiots and people he didn't care about in one form another. No. He missed his old job of being able to run freely in the woods even as a human, protecting himself and whatever feral beast he was after from other people that might kill a werewolf just for neglecting a potion. Hell, he missed being able to walk unassisted by his cane. But neither was something he could have again now that he was bitten. Not that he truly hated the bite. No, he'd wanted to be a wolf since he was a little boy and being granted it wasn't something he'd ever hate. Even if he wished the wolf that bit him could have not made his leg a chew toy in the process. But since his days were now filled with paperwork of the Hufflepuff house and long hours spent among children, when he wasn't talking to one of the members of his new pack, he found himself bored. Which is why when an owl came from Elroy asking for assistance on a text, William jumped at the chance to leave the castle. Dressed in an unusual choice of black dress slacks, deep blue pinstrip shirt, and an equally black vest he gave the appearance of a friend stopping directly after work to see to casual business. Nothing to warrant suspicion or cause another to give him more than first glance. No hint of what house he might once have been a part of. Still was a part of. William walked slowly through the halls he once worked at, cane echoing quietly against the marble flooring. Thoughts centered around seeing this text and what information he might gain from trade of skills. He emptied his mind behind the mental walls he had taught himself, not wanting to take the chance that anything might be discovered while in a building of Death Eaters. As he neared Elroy's office he allowed a small smile on his face. "Is this what you trade your old job for? I must admit I care more for your space than what I have at the castle." Information freely given because it was already known, words falling easily as he stood at the open doorway to Elroy's office. The work space for a man that was not his enemy nor a true friend. But someone -like Alixander- that he liked well enough. "I think it is the chair that makes it seem so nice. I will have to get one for my desk later." |

William didn't think it was a curse to be a wolf. In fact it was something he'd dreamed of since he was a little boy. The freedom of the world beneath his feet and the laws of man not able to catch him. Bound only to his pack and the call of the moon. He'd known from a young age that he'd join the ranks of wolves one day and even if his bite had been a lot more vicious than he wanted, it resulted in the gift he'd wanted. So the excruciating pain he felt every month as he was remade, it was a fair trade off for a childhood dream.
The Hogwarts professor resisted the urge to respond childishly to Alixander's words. While it didn't surprise him that his old coworker was ignoring his own health, William couldn't help the twing of annoyance at the act. Even if he'd done the same as the other man when he'd first been injured so severely. "I wasn't worrying for my own safety, Alixander. Rather I was thinking your health. To say you look tired seems to be an understatement." The wolf paused and offered the other man a small smile as he sat the bag in his lap. "When did you last take time to rest more than a few hours of sleep?"

William merely smiled as his new alpha fist bumped the table, doing no more than picking up his cup so the tea wouldn't slosh over the rim. He'd been fairly certain upon arrival that he'd be agreeing to Hadrian's terms anyway so he didn't feel offended or angered in the slightest that he felt right in line with Hadrian's thoughts as well. No. He much liked it when someone else could be on his train of thought. Or they could at least act though they understood in what direction he might be headed.
His hand were folded carefully over each other, not grabbing his cup to use as a shield but not taking up more space than was needed. It was a tiny act of submission from the older man. This was a position he adopted and maintained as Hadrian spoke to him of trust. The threat plain as the moon in the sky didn't cause the young werewolf to waver from his blank expression. He had nothing to hide and no reason to be fear for his throat. William knew he had done no wrong and had spoke no lie so he did not flinch for he had no reason. Instead he tilted his head to the side to bare his throat for a fraction of a second and then went for his cup of tea again. "I would not follow you as my alpha if you did anything less, Volka. Only brutes trust so freely and only fools trust as such and yet allow the betrayer to live." His voice was calm and hands steady as he brought his tea to sip from, letting another bare smile pull at his lips in answer to the other man's laugh.
As Hadrian pulled out his wand to cast the privacy bubble, William couldn't help the small smile on his face. Yes, it was definitely nice to be able to have someone who could understand him. On his old team he might had to spell it out for the poor men to understand. However he hoped Hadrian hadn't thought the privacy was all that was needed for him to spill his guts. "You must understand, Volka, I mean no disrespect nor do I mean to seem like I do not trust you... But I do not trust you fully, just as you do not trust me. I would divulge information for you if the pursuit in question were not what it is. As it is the matter is worth more than just my life but the lives of those who come to me in confidence. I will not betray them anymore than I would betray you for as long as I am able. I understand you might be hesitant to give permission while not knowing of the activity but you may take me on my word that it has nothing to do with an allegiance to the Death Eater scum. I have allegiances to no one save you, if you would still have me." And Alixander. He had allegiances with Alixander, but that wasn't really something of import to the alpha. He'd find that out when more trust was gained.

"Volka, then." He acquiesced, body relaxed even with the alpha male invading his space. It wasn't something he was uncomfortable with in the least. No, just another thing he'd learned to tolerate -maybe even welcome- when he'd worked at his old job. "If you'd like to drop formalities you are welcome to just call me William."
William did not have to try to be polite to the higher ranking wolf, nor did he have to try and pretend that he was an easy wolf; a wolf that would roll over and bare its soft bits at the slightest hint of danger. However he was not a brass or assuming man. Even if it might seem that way to those who did not know him. He was the type to phrase is suggests as though they were already set in motion, and only those who knew to listen for certain key words would know the difference. It was a tactic employed by his mother. One he'd picked up quickly and effectively.
The younger wolf but older man brought his cup back to his lips as Hadrian turned down his offer. While he might not have blamed the male for turning down tea, he couldn't help but wonder how he'd be able to stand putting the dirty glass to his skin. No. William had enough of an urge to shower just by sitting. Allowing the filth in his mouth just wouldn't do.
Blue eyes watched the wolves move swiftly as their alpha commanded them. There was no sign of fear in the lines of their body, which is all he cared to see. William turned his attention fully back to the alpha, face blank of emotion as he listened to the other man speak. Taking mental notes of his words and his tones throughout the speech. He didn't try to interrupt the other -both as a show of respect and also because he cared more for the other's finished thoughts that halting a train. Only once did he move from his position to lean forward and pour himself more tea into the empty cup.
As the alpha finished his speech and asked for any further questions, William allowed himself to take the breath that would lead to his responses to what the other man said.
"I am agreeable to becoming an Adviser to yourself. Your reasons hold merit and I foresee no problems at the arrangement." There was no need for the words to be taken as a compliment to Hadrian's skills. The words were not intended to be such. They were merely acknowledging that Hadrian wasn't as stupid as his father.
As he thought about the question of his bravery a sly smile fell onto the man's lips. "I have faced rapid wolves on full moons armed with nothing more than a wand between me and their teeth while I was still only human. An angry but sane alpha will do little to scare me if there is true error in judgement. You would need to trust my judgement as well as your own, of course. My place would be little more than a title if you never hear my words. Do you think you can trust a man you barely know to tell you the things you may not want to hear?"
William set down his cup at that and nodded once, content with Hadrian's plans for the future. Though he would remain questionable about the situation regarding planned housing. But that was not significant enough to warrant immediate attention. Instead he steeled his eyes and tilted his chin just a fraction. "I have a particular... Let us call it a hobby... That most of those aligned with the Dark Arts would find tasteless. While it should not effect the pack significantly I feel it is best I warn you. It is nothing concretely against the law but would be dangerous if the wrong sort were to come sniffing around. I would like to obtain permission to continue this persuit without fear of interuption." That was a lot more than he wanted to say while they were in an establishment possibly crawling with Death Eaters.

William was taking a small sip of his still steaming tea as the door to the pub opened and in swept Hadrian. Along with five others that he assumed were pack. William only smiled the tiniest bit as he set the cup down, moving to balance his cane over his lap. He couldn't blame the Alpha for bringing along a guard. Nor did he particularly feel intimidated by their appearance. If anything it made him acknowledge Hadrian as further from his father's line. The professor let the smile fall from his face as the alpha sent his wolves over to the other area of the bar before coming over.
As he watched this display he had set down his own cup and carefully set the other cup beside the thermos as a subtle, unsaid offer. By the other's gruff appearance William wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't drink something as gentle as tea. Hadrian seemed more of the beer or hard liquor type.
"Good evening to you as well, Alpha Greyback." His words were polite and just this side of uninterested. He said nothing as he watched the display of dominance and only picked up his tea to take another drink. Which he set done once again in order to take the offered hand, shaking it with his usual firm grip that showed the strength he once had as a man. "That would be why we are meeting, yes. I thought we should meet in person to discuss terms, positions, and any expectations on both our parts. I believe we established your desire to build your... empire... But I fail to see how exactly you plan to go about the actual acquisition of power." Well, he failed to see Hadrian's desire was any different than his fathers. Even if their approaching of the situations might have differed. There was a pause before he gestured invitingly to the tea. "I happen to have a drink with me, nonalcoholic tea. Unless you would prefer something from the bar?" William wouldn't be drinking anything the Hog's Head had to offer. Their establishment was disgusting enough, he didn't want to even think of what their glasses were like. || WORD COUNT: XXX || NOTES: Continuing "Wolf Shit"|| TAGS: Hadrian || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

After the letter exchange between Hadrian Greyback and himself, William had to admit that he was intrigued. The professor knew that it was never truly a good idea for a wolf to roam without a pack. It made it more likely that the wolf would be attacked or worse, the wolf might go feral and be taken out by his old team. So yes, he was interested in the offer. But more than that he couldn't help feeling mildly amazed that a Greyback had reached out to a man such as himself, even if it wasn't the notorious Fenrir. Not that he wanted to be propositioned by Fenrir. No, the less he had to do with the wolf that created such a stigma for his kind the better.
In any case the curiosity created by the slightly arrogant sounding words was hard for the man to put away. Which is how he found himself buttoning up his over coat and heading out of the castle with his usual slow and limping pace. There was a thermas of tea and a pair of cups floating delicately behind him as he made his way to Hog's Head early.
Once there the professor muttered a few Scourgify-ies at the table and chairs in the corner, creating a small pocket of relatively clean space before he sat down. Eyes towards the door at he watched and waited. Once he paused in order to pour himself a still steaming cuppa, using his wand to create a small stream of milk into the cup before calling it good and taking a small drink. Now, to wait for the Alpha. || WORD COUNT: XXX || NOTES: Continuing "Wolf Shit"|| TAGS: Hadrian || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

ALIXANDER JOHN WARRINGTONWilliam wasn't really sure he could count Alixander as a mate. No, no. A coworker or partner suited William enough if he had to label their relationship with anything. They talked sparingly and mostly met up whenever there was to be a new muggleborn moving into William's home for a weekend. So no, there existed no sense of a truly close bond between the two on William's end. He still came when called, though. He was never one to miss an appointment or to even so much as arrive a few minutes late. As the door opened and William was greeted with the familiar face of his partner, the wolf couldn't help but let his eyes do a quick scan of Alixander. Slightly pallid skin, darkening circles under his eyes, eyes just beginning to sport the sort of redness that came when one rubbed their eyes far too much in a small amount of time, and that was to say nothing of his wrinkled clothes and the lingering tension in his shoulders. Something had happened that created tension in Alixander's life and he was getting little sleep, if he was sleeping at all. "Alixander." he responded in lieu of greeting, waiting till the door fully opens before limping past into the familiar apartment. Once there he made his way to the seat he usually took, casually sitting and laying his cane over his lap. As Alixander made his way to the kitchen William continued his exploration of the apartment with his eyes. Bag hastily thrown on the floor, nothing yet shoved aside and no clothes discarded. Alixander must have just got in. The wolf turned his head as his partner came back into the room, nodding briefly to the man before raising a hand to take the bag. "Once again, thank you. You have been a great help by providing extra potions." They'd be helpful should something ever happen. "So, pleasantries aside Alixander, is there any reason I should be worrying right now?" H shouldn't have to mention any of his observations. || WORD COUNT: XXX || NOTES: I can change any of this if needed. Since I did sort of make up things for him to observe. Possible options for William Charles::
Option One: William Grey Charles | 32 | 1 year | Adviser | William is a calm and level headed wolf. He has the disposition one would expect from a wolf born at least 30 times before his bite actually occurred. This stems from the fact he's been studying wolves since he ran across the passage about them back in first year. If he had remained human he's still have made a good pack mate. He sees things from a prospective tilted more towards what would be necessary and stabilize the pack rather than choices stemming from hate, or anger, or a bond of blood. I could see him doing well to level out Hadrian -since the guy seems like the type to rush into growling as his answer- and to keep his alpha from rushing into adopting those into the pack who wouldn't benefit them and might actually harm them. Pointing out alternative ways to go about everything. Sort of the white knight to Hadrian's black king.
Option Two: William Grey Charles | 32 | 1 year | Beta Senior | I think perhaps later down the road as trust grows between Alpha and his Adviser this position would suit William well. For all the reasons as I said above and for the fact he's likely to remain impartial in most situations. He'll think about the good of the pack as a whole rather than one or two of its members, he'll consider safety for the wolves before he'll throw himself into a situation.
