home is where the deceptive heart is. it was a weekend, and while Violet was not adverse to going to work; she found it quite pleasant to interact with her fourth grade students, as they were actually mature and fun to be around for young ones their age, she was also glad to have a day to herself. five days of focusing on teaching kids was rater challenging, so it was always good to be able to relax and not have to worry about anything...well, she did have to worry about her pregnancy and keeping the fact that it was not his baby away from john, but otherwise she could just be casual and chill.
the woman was sitting upon a couch in the living room, still wearing a big t-shirt and a pair of shorts. she had went to sleep in them and hadn't bothered to change out. she'd already eaten her breakfast, and with nothing to do, she decided to watch something on tv. right now she was watching something on the news channel. she was listening to the news anchor report about some dramatic incident that was happening in some part of england. there was always a dramatic happening going on in some place in the world. it was no surprise, but violet did pity those poor souls that had misfortune befall them. little did she know that she ought to pity herself instead of worrying about others...but right now she thought that her secret was kept safely and soundly away from her ever so sweet and trusting husband, or so she thought.

| O nce upon a time, John and Violet were happy together, but that was long ago and nowhere to be found. Five years of marriage was a long time and even though John didn't want it to end he knew that once Violet found out about him knowing about the pregnancy that it would just turn to dust. Dust from the five, long years of memories that would soon be out of his site. A long sigh escaped his lips as he stood in the bathroom leaning against the sink. He looked like a mess and not just because he had just woke up, but because of the previous night out with his younger sister., Adelaide. They went out for a drink and three hours later John was wasted so once arriving at home he crashed in the guest bedroom. He didn't want his loving wife to worry why tears were rushing down his face. Well, she probably would have finally guessed it was about her but sometimes she was clueless.... or just didn't care. He turned on the faucet, placed some disgusting flavored toothpaste on his toothbrush and let the water run over the toothbrush for about two seconds. After all who knew if she would smell the alcohol if he didn't have a toothbrush in his mouth. "You're up early," John mumbled after moving into the living room where Violet was. He was still brushing his teeth and instead of staying in the bathroom he made his way to the laundry room to grab a t-shirt. He glanced at the tv only to noticed that she was watching the news which was something he always cringed with. He hated watching the news because it seemed boring and at this point who knew if she only watched it to annoy him, but he doubted it. Luckily for John there was a sink in the laundry room so he finished brushing his teeth there giving Violet all the more reason to be annoyed. "Did you want to get some breakfast?" John asked wiping under his left eye as he walked back out making his way back into the living room. He was too busy brushing his teeth that he didn'r grab a shirt so he stood there with just pajama bottoms on. |

home is where the deceptive heart is. violet had taken notice that her husband had been late in coming home last night. but she hadn't worried, much. she knew that he was hanging out with his sister, Margie, and she was alright with that, of course. siblings had to stick together and violet was happy for him that he enjoyed a good relationship with his sister. she also trusted that he was loyal to her, too. he was definitely not deceitful. she couldn't picture him being that. well, maybe because she chose not to believe he could be, but seriously, he was a really honest and open person. she couldn't imagine him doing any wrong.
funny, she cheated on him but she also expected him to be loyal to her. she was asking for too much, wasn't she? she couldn't help it. she loved him and wanted him to herself, but at the same time she couldn't do the same for him. she just wanted to have fun with other guys. she wondered how anyone could keep with just one person while turning a blind eye to equally charming and handsome men. to her, it was impossible, and she knew that it was expected of her to act that way, but...how? How did anyone do it? violet very much wanted to know how to do it if that was the standard of how to be a good wife. but she couldn't, and sometimes she resented the world for expecting too much of her and passing judgment her. they just couldn't understand how she felt! she wouldn't be doing things without a reason. it might not be a popular reason, but it was still a reason.
she turned around when she heard someone entering the room; obviously it was john. he mumbled a greeting, or more likely a casual remark about her being up early. the reason why he wasn't speaking clearly was because he was brushing his teeth. violet frowned at that. she would prefer that he finished brushing his teeth in the bathroom instead of wander about the house doing it. but, it was a usual habit of his, so she didn't comment upon it.
he definitely looked bedraggled, but that was normal because he had just woken up. but then again, when she woke up he hadn't been at her side in their bedroom. after a quick search for him she found him in the guestroom. that was strange, but then she did smell the alcohol on him when she crept up quietly to him. he had been drinking with margie? if that was his idea of sibling bonding, then who was she to judge? she found it quite amusing.
"hm? yeah, but that's because i went to bed earlier," she said, not needing to elaborate on that. she watched him disappear into the laundry room and then faced the TV again, catching up on anything she had missed. she personally didn't find it boring, for some reason. she guessed she was just more interested in this kind of stuff than he was. in college, she had learned about the importance of television and the media as a source of information, and it kind of stuck to her. education was a very important thing for violet, which was why she had chosen to be an educator.
she turned around to look at him again when he came back. he was finally finished with his teeth-brushing process made longer because of not completing it in one spot. but he still didn't have a shirt on, and considering that it was autumn and the chilly weather permeated through the walls of the house from the outside. "honey, you should put a shirt on. it's cold in here," she said, despite the fact that she was wearing shorts. it didn't really bother her, but she was concerned that it would bother him. for all of her shortcomings, at least she did care about his well-being.
but, to answer his question about whether she wanted to get breakfast. "no, it's fine, i've already eaten. i did prepare you some toast, though. it's on the counter with the jam and orange juice, although you might have to reheat the toast."
And with that said, she asked him, "so, how was your night with margie, john? i hope you had fun."

| Y es, John needed to put a shirt on but was she looking out for him or was she disgusted by looking at his bare body to mention that? He knew that he needed to put on a shirt and he was going to do that, but he did not need his wife to tell him what he already knew. He started to make his way back into the laundry room just as she answered his question. A roll of the eyes and another sigh escaped his lips as he grabbed a random shirt from the hanger in the closet. Of course she ate, but at least she saved toast for him. She couldn't of just ate toast considering that she was pregnant, but even if she had just ate toast at least she saved a slice for him. It was probably burnt to a crisp, but at least he had fucking toast to eat. He walked back out of the laundry room and over to the kitchen to reheat the toast. "It was alright, I drank too much, not going to lie about that." John glanced at her to see if she would mention something about not lying herself, but the glance was short and he was back to preparing his toast. He twisted the jar of jam and placed the lid on the counter. "Margie was having problems with some guy at her work so she wanted to discuss that. I had to rant about something too, but we drank together and had a decent time." Grabbing a steak knife from the holder he decided to respond. "How was your night, Violet? Did you do anything exciting?"
