FAQS
What are the adults such as Arthur Weasley or Ron Weasley doing during this time period?
We believe that the staff should not control every detail on the site. This means we want to give the freedom to our members on what their parents or relatives are doing during this chaotic time period. As stated in the plot, the order attempted to rise up, but a lot of members were killed. Anyone who is not mentioned in our plot or timeline as being dead are still alive unless our roleplayers state otherwise. We do ask, if you kill off your grandmother (Molly Weasley for example) to let us know, so we can update the timeline. This site is more focused on the future generation than the past generations. ALSO! If you plan to kill off a family member from the past generation, you must consult with the other members of your character's family. If you're currently the only one of that canon family then you may kill that one off. However, if you have a brother or cousin then consult with them before making that decision!
Why are some leaders predetermined already?
This site was previously Out of the Woods, the same plot pretty much. We moved URLs and changed the site's name. We roleplayed out where the order decided upon its leaders.

THE INFO Magical Races
Some wizards and witches are born with things that set them apart from others in the wizarding world. This may be the addition of fur during a full moon, drinking blood, predicting the future, and there are many other things. However, these races are quite rare, so there is a limit on how many we will allow on the site at a time. Don't worry though, at the beginning of each month, we will add more spots for more wizards and witches to sign up.
Magical Abilities
Some wizards and witches take many years of their life, learning a certain art to give them an ability that not everyone has. These abilities are more common than the races though there will still be a limit on how many we allow on the site at a time. As with the races, we will add more spots for more wizards and witches to sign up at the beginning of each month.
The Rules & Info
- For a magical race, your character may be any age since it is something that they are born with or have to be bitten for.
- For a magical ability, your character must at least be sixteen. These abilities are quite difficult to learn which is why they are suitable for older wizards and witches.
- If your character is a canon, they may be an exception to the limited spots however an admin will ultimately decide based on availability. Also, just because you're a Greyback, doesn't mean that every child of his is a werewolf.
- Your character may be one race and have one ability, if you desire so. However, they can have one without the other, if that is what you want.
- Your character may have two abilities (except wandless & nonverbal magic) HOWEVER they must be twenty to have both abilities.
- Your character may have wandless magic, if they are over the age of 25. Your character may have nonverbal magic, regardless of age. To have both abilities, your character must be over the age of 25 and only one of your characters may have both of these. It is considered rare to be capable of both together hence the restriction on them.
Vampires - A vampire may not drink the blood of a mortal unless they have PMed an admin for permission. There also must be permission from both parties as always with roleplaying. Vampires can withstand sunlight on this site. However, they detest garlic and must drink blood to survive. Half vampires like the D'Eath family only have pale skin, exaggerated teeth, and a dislike for garlic. They do not need to blood to survive.
Werewolves - They may not bite a mortal unless they have PMed an admin for permission. There also must be permission from both parties as always with roleplaying. Werewolves attending Hogwarts may roleplay their transformations in the Shrieking Shack or Forbidden Forest. There is no such thing as half werewolves since it is not hereditary like vampires.
Parseltongue - Despite popular belief, this is something that your character must be born with. Your character will not be associated with Tom Riddle just because they have this ability. The ability to talk to snakes is extremely rare.
Veela - Full blood veelas are rare, so you will need to specify a number for their blood (ex: 1/2 veela). The majority of them are women, however men are capable of being veelas as well.
Metamorphmagus - At a young age, the ability simply lets one change their hair or eye color. Most of the time, a younger witch or wizard will have no control over how their emotions affect the color of their eyes or hair. As they grow older, they may change parts of the body such as their nose to a cat's nose.
Seers - Younger seers will only be able to see things that may or may not be true. They have a knack for Divination and are quite capable of understanding the crystal balls in the class. Older seers may be capable of making prophecies which may or may not be true.
Ghosts - Ghosts are the souls of the undead wandering the earth. They typically stay where they died though the Hogwarts ghosts are the exceptions to this rule. Since they are dead, they are not affected by avada kedavra. However, they may be affected by the basilisk's gaze.
Animagus - These wizards and witches are highly capable in Transfiguration. They may take the form of one particular animal at free will. When in their animagus form, there is sometimes noticeable features about them. Ex: Minerva McGonagall with her spectacles.
Occlumens - These wizards and witches are capable of shielding their thoughts along with memories from Legilimens. However depending on their experience, they may end up allowing a Legilimens to still see inside their mind.
Legilimens - They are capable of reading the thoughts and memories of others. Also, if they are powerful enough, they can project thoughts that are not real (ex: harry seeing sirius in the ministry of magic getting tortured) into another character's mind. You must have permission to read another character's mind, so just ask their roleplayer! |

CANONS If you have not read the plot yet, we advise you to do so before looking at the canons. Our site's plot heavily relies on the characters in the wizarding world, so it is important to consider carefully when choosing a canon. Some canons have been predetermined to be important to the site's plot by the creators of the site. However, every character is just as important to the plot as those because of the roleplayer's plots. It is ultimately up to you to enable someone that isn't as easily recognizable as the Potter family, to be just as important. Our goal is to encourage everyone to ultimately have their characters included in our plot and to not have anyone feeling left out of the site. Trust me, we have been on those sites where not many people jumped to post on our plottage page and it sucks. When taking these canons, you may PM an admin, if you wish to change something about them. It can be their gender, house, or age. We'd prefer those things to stay the same, of course because we have tried to even those out for the site. However, if you're really dying to make a male ravenclaw 17 year old wood instead of a female gryffindor 16 year old wood, we'll definitely take it into high consideration.

here you may enter in your adult's newt grades from when they attended hogwarts or any other magical school. each school follows the same grading system and require the same subjects though focus heavier on certain subjects than hogwarts may. hogwarts strives to focus on each subject equally. beauxbatons focuses heavily on perfecting charms and herbology. durmstrang focuses heavily on dart arts and potions. if your student attended a different school that is not mentioned in this claim, pm GAMBIT for information on what your school would focus heavily on. owls are essential for our adults to claim as it shows their strengths and weaknesses. this claim is mandatory for any adults that are looking to have jobs that require newt grades to be qualified for their job. you may choose what your adult received during their school years for newts. newt level classes are only permitted to be taken, if your adult has earned a 'E' in a subject. for example, to take the defense against the dark arts newt level class, your character should have earned a 'E' or a 'O' in their defense against the dark arts owl. before claiming your newt level grades, you must post in here first. for newts, there are no certain classes required to be taken as the students focus more on the classes that they achieved higher grades on for their newt level classes. we do ask that your character takes at least 5 newt level classes though they may take less, if they failed all of their owls. if you want to know what newt grades you need for certain jobs, you may find those requirements here. JOB CLAIMS JOB CLAIMS Wizards and witches have to make a living, too. This is a list of all the available jobs we have open. Please keep in mind that you MUST BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER TO HAVE A JOB unless otherwise stated above in our job requirements. If there is a job that is not listed that you want, just post below and you will be placed under other jobs.
If you are an auror, the department was blown to bits by the death eaters and you are on the run from them. Aurors have most likely spent their time looking for muggleborns to help teach magic to, keeping squibs safe, and avoiding the death eaters at all cost. Former aurors who failed the auror training and guarded Azkaban, the ones who are left, are a small group that are looking for the aurors. They have been branded with the dark mark and use their knowledge from auror training to enable them to search for the aurors. There are a small amount of both groups since a majority of them were killed off by the death eaters in the original takeover.
If you are an unspeakable or in training to be one, you will be researching all areas of magic along with keeping track of all the pureblood families in the wizarding world. If you are a hit witch/wizard, your job is the same as before though it is more directed at squibs, muggleborns, and any order members attempting to bring justice to the death eaters.
Keep in mind, not every person in the ministry is evil and may cause trouble for the death eaters.
